One moment Coral was sitting quietly struggling through her maths homework. The next minute she felt something sharp sting her on the arm.

She looks at her arm in time to see the big buzzing thing fly away, then lets out a bloodcurdling scream and throws her maths book towards the bug.

"OWWW! GO AWAY, YOU BIG SMELLY MEANIE FARTY-FACE BUG!"

The bug, however, is long gone.

"Coral," Autor says, blinking at her as he approaches. "Are you all right?"

"IT STUNG ME!" Coral wails, clutching her arm, which has a big red patch on it.

[herr_bookman]

"Oh, I'm sorry," Autor says, adjusting his glasses. "Do you know if the insect was a bee or a wasp?"

Why is Autor asking SILLY questions? The 7-year-old gives another angry wail.

"It should be SQUASHED." she declares.

The redness seems to be spreading up her arm.

"I wanted to find out if there is a stinger," Autor explains, patient as ever with Coral's tantrum. He doesn't notice the spreading. "If it's a bee, there will be one."

She lets go of her arm to let him look.

"If it was a bee, it would be dead." she says. "But it flew away."

[herr_bookman]

"Probably a wasp, then," Autor says, peering at her arm. "Is the red spot supposed to be that large?"

There are hives coming out over her whole arm. She scratches at them. Her expression turns from anger to fear.

"This is what happens to Mummy when she has nuts."

"Wait, what?" Autor says, his own eyes widening. "What? Are you having an allergic reaction? What do we do?"

[coral_sandhu]

"You have to get a magic pen!" Coral says.

Her lips feel tingly.

[herr_bookman]

"A magic pen? What? I didn't think your world had magic!" Autor says, starting to flail.

Coral grabs him by the hand and pulls him towards the infirmary. She knows what she's looking for, but she needs him to read the long words in the instructions.

Once inside the infirmary, she grabs a red bag off the wall and thrusts it at him.

"I can't read fast. I need you to tell me which is the right pen."

Inside the bag are instructions for using the epipen, with different doses for adults and children.

In Autor's panic, he can't read fast, either. He tears open the bag, mind spinning, and plucks up the two different EpiPens. Staring helplessly at them, he reads the instructions as fast as his frantic, distracted mind can. "It's this one!" he says, holding the children's dose aloft.

"Coral? You okay?" Jay drops what he's doing and comes over to check on her.

[coral_sandhu]

"IT STUNG ME!" Coral howls, clutching her arm.

Jay grabs a first aid kit on his way past the bar and sits down with her. "Show me?"

Coral shows him the angry red mark on her arm.

"It should be squashed!"

[ooc: In the other thread she needed an epipen but I think it might be a bit complicated to do that twice so shall we millitime and stick to hives?]

"Let's worry about your arm first." Jay sits down with her. "Okay, first thing we need to wash it off. Then we'll get you an ice-pack."

He looks her in the eye. "Do you feel dizzy, or any trouble breathing?"

Coral shakes her head.

"It's itchy though."

Jay makes quick work of wiping the area with soapy water and then an ethanol swab. "Ice-pack next. Are you allergic to anything? Antihistamines?"

[coral_sandhu]

"I don't think so." Coral says.

[runningred]

Jay waves over a rat and asks them to check Coral's medical record for antihistamine allergies. He wraps the ice-pack around her arm, covered by a towel. "How does that feel?"

[coral_sandhu]

"Cold." Coral says. "But good."

There's no allergies on her record.

[runningred]

"Good, okay. Lets get you something for the itch." He asks the rats to fetch an antihistamine tablet and some water. "You hungry?" He asks, wanting to keep her distracted.

It's nearly dinner time, but Coral nods anyway.

"Fry ate the last cupcake at home because it was 'exactly the right size'." Lie.
