What's that you say? You didn't realize Charlie was still around? Well, he tends to keep to himself. But sometimes, if you are keeping a sharp eye out, you might see him in the rafters, watching the bar go bye. And sometimes, if he's in the right mood, he'll wear the face that isn't a face.

Look sharp, patrons. Beware The Question!

"Long time no see."

Carlotta comes to join him in the rafters.

There is definitely a smile under the mask.

"Yes. Quite a long while. How have you been?" He tries to remember where he left off in her life. Marriage? Kids? Or was that someone else? (After a while, the Bar blurs together for him.)

"I'm well, how are you?" Carlotta asks. "It's been about nine years for me, the door came back the other day."

[52_dropoff]

"Nine years. I would ask where the time has gone, but I suspect it's done what it's supposed to you while it doesn't really pass for me, does it?" She still looks young. He suppposes that people you mean as kids will always look like kids. "That puts you in the 50s?"

[fiery_ring]

"1959." Carlotta nods. "I've kept busy. Two kids to bring up and a circus to run."

[52_dropoff]

"Two kids. I remember...nah, you do not need me telling you what I remember." He is not about start off being nostalgic. "How is the circus doing? Staring down television successfully?" He has some vague sense that the BBC was not yet a monolith the way the big networks in the US were taking hold.

"My old circus folded." Carlotta says. "We were in financial difficulties. I had to go back to being a performer for a little while, then I started my own again after the divorce. It's been pretty successful, a lot of folks still can't afford televisions."

[52_dropoff]

Yes, he remembered that little factoid.

"Divorce. I am sorry. That can't be easy. But you never took the easy way out, did you?" He shifts to sit in a position that is more about having a conversation than about spying on everyone.

[fiery_ring]

"Thanks. It was easier than living with him, in the end." Carlotta says, swinging her legs absently on the edge of the rafter. "I could have forgiven the drinking, clearly the war left him with a lot of issues, but it got to the stage where it wasn't fair on the kids. After I caught him cheating again I kicked him out. That's about the only way a woman can get a divorce."

A woman carrying paperwork under her arm enters from her door. Her bearing screams military, from the straight-backed posture and hard, uncompromising gaze, to the navy blue uniform with grey trim. Before she reaches the bar, she glances up into the rafters. "What are you doing up there?"

"Watching people come and go." Including her, a couple of times. That uniform stands out a bit. "It's interesting."

The mask is slightly off-putting, but not a flicker of that thought shows up on Hawkeye's face. "I suppose being up high gives you a different perspective."

[52_dropoff]

"It usually does. People are not on their guard, for the most part. Not that I can hear them. Or that I'm looking for specific people or behavior." Those days are long since passed.

[deadeye_shot]

"I'd never considered that people might not be on their guard," Hawkeye says, clearly on hers. "Do people not look up?"

[52_dropoff]

"Why should they? The bar is a safe space. And who would be in the rafters?" Well, he's been up here often enough to know that a lot of people are in the rafters. And that the bar isn't that safe.

[deadeye_shot]

"You are, for one," Hawkeye says, after a moment. "And I don't know if I agree with your assessment of the bar being safe."

[52_dropoff]

He smiles a bit under the mask. "Apparently, you have actually given some thought to this place. But I would guess that comes with military training."

Cassian's cursing to himself and hitting his datapad which isn't acting as it should when he enters.

On his way to the counter, he notices something out of the corner of his eye and stops to scan the Bar and the rafters where he spots the Question and says, "Good view?"

"Not as good as from the mountains, or from the top of the Wayne Tower. But good enough." He's seen this man, of course, coming and going frequently, but having not eavesdropped, he doesn't have a sense of who he is.

"Wayne Tower, I don't think I know where that is," He leans against a table to get a better look at this man in the rafters and figure out that lack of face.

"Gotham City, USA. The somewhat Gothic, moderately modern tallest building in America's second worst city." He's clearly not a fan.

"Gotham I've heard of from someone named Jay Todd if you know him. I'm from the Galactic Empire and a pilot so always going through places."

[52_dropoff]

Galactic Empire? Sounds rather generic, but unless it were the Terran Empire or the Coluan Empire or something similar, names wouldn't mean much.

"That name is familiar, but I can't entirely place it. Then again, I tend to keep to myself these days."

"There are a few people from my galaxy around here, we're not all from the same time. Baze Malbus seems to be known by a lot of people, Ibani who's from an earlier time period than I am, she's been in Milliways for a long time and a few others."

[52_dropoff]

"I met Jay Todd, actually. I suppose I have met people from a galactic empire, but as names go, that doesn't really identify a specific empire. It's as if someone from...no, never mind." He's really out of practice with this "talking to people" thing.

"I'm Charlie. I think I ought to come down if we're going to talk."
