Gaster has found one of the workshops present in Milliways's grounds. He is able to float inside through the walls. Passersby outside might notice the lights inside flickering as he does.
It's spacious and well-lit, packed with spare parts in boxes near the walls. He examines them, nodding to himself as he does.
"Bar, if you can hear me from here," Gaster says, "I promise to pay you back for this space eventually."
Now, to business. He has an idea for something that can help him, but first he has to test a theory.
That might prove difficult for him, however, seeing as he can't pick up objects.
Any assistance would be welcome.

Cassian know he needs a part because his datapad's acting up and Bar points him to a workshop that he didn't know about.
When he enters he finds familiar and unfamiliar electronics and smiles, this place could be very useful. Once he spots a box with Aurabesh on it, he starts searching through parts, setting them out for what he could use now and maybe later.

Fortunately, Gaster brought the laptop Bar gave him with him. He enters a few commands and a word appears on the screen.
"Hello."

More words appear on the laptop.
"Yes. My name is Dr. W.D. Gaster. I'm not currently corporeal at the moment. I apologize if I'm disturbing you."
no subject
This is a new experience but perhaps this doctor's a species that spends some time as a gas. He notes the dust and trains his eye there, maybe that's where the non-corporeal patron is.

That seems like the droid might not like it but if it didn't have full programming, it might work.

"Doubtful. I have difficulty interacting with physical objects. I do have an idea in mind, but I'd like to test a theory first."

He knows electronics and he this is something he's never come across before.

"Do you know what a particle accelerator is? I believe I'm composed mostly of energy, seeing how electronics tend to react to my presence. I believe if I can build one on a smaller scale, it might convert my form into a more stable one - or at least a visible one.
I was going to test the theory by building a simple electromagnet, and seeing how I react to that."

He uses them to mess with surveillance and starts finding the pieces he needs.

He's a little way inside when he feels -- something. The same odd, indefinable sensation he gets whenever there's an out-of-phase Digimon, or when he gets too close to the spot where Wizarmon died.
He sweeps his gaze over the room once, without seeing Gaster, and then once again -- and on the second time around, he actually does see at least the vague shape of him.
"Are you," Yamato says, very firmly, "an actual, literal ghost?"
no subject
At Yamato's words, Gaster gives a dry laugh. There were ghosts in Gaster's world - at least they could be seen and talk with people.
Gaster's not sure if Yamato will be able to hear him, so he gets out his laptop and types:
"No. I'm a skeleton. I just happen to currently be incorporeal."
no subject
Is an incorporeal skeleton even practically different to a ghost? Yamato doesn't know! And he doesn't plan on finding out!
"... What're you doing here? In the workshop, I mean."
God, he hopes the answer isn't that this is where Gaster died or something.

Things that are corporeal are always preferable to things which are not.
"Any, er, any progress on that?"
no subject
"Actually, if you're not busy, I could use a second set of hands. Do have any experience in making electromagnets?"
