The front door opens a tiny crack, like it wasn't properly latched and has come ajar. A moment later a tiny nose pokes through, followed soon by a fuzzy head.

A cat, black and white with wide yellow eyes, peeks into Milliways, meowing to announce this new discovery, then slipping through the crack into the bar.

"No, no, no, no-- "

The door swings wide, pushed open by a man in a black mask, a box of kitty kibble in his hand.

He's too late, the cat makes a break for freedom and adventure, and Matt is left standing in the doorway trying to track the feline as it threads its way through the chaos of the bar.

"Damn it."

There is absolutely no way Claire is ever going to let him live this down.

"It's quite alright. I grew up with cats, I'm use to them playing a little rough." He starts to untangle the cat, patting and soothing it with words of praise in Ancient Greek.

At first the cat is still keen to play, but the soothing speech calms it, and by the time Sinric has it free the cat is purring.

"Never had one myself," Matt admits. "It belongs to a friend."

Or, friend of a friend, but Claire is the reason he's put so much effort into getting it back.

"I take it you yet to come to an accord with each other?" He holds the cat to his chest, scratching the purring cat between the ears.

"I thought we had," Matt replies, frown a touch annoyed at all the affection the cat is throwing upon Sinric. "I guess the cat has changed its mind."

They had been getting along just fine when Claire was around for the cat to annoy by loving on Matt. Clearly the tables have turned.

"There is nothing under the sun quite so contrary as a cat." Sinric smiles, standing up with the cat bundled to his chest. "Would you like some help taking her back? Or shall we feed her first?"

"I'm starting to get that," he replies about cats.

The cat snuggles in even as Matt steps forward to reach out for it.

"I've got it and food for it," he says, nodding back towards the front door.

Sinric soothes the cat with gentles words and pats as he gently hands it over to Matt.

The cat does try to hang on to Sinric as Matt reaches out to take it, but the gentle words and petting make it so that the cat doesn't put up a fuss being handed over.

Still, once it's in Matt's arms it does give a plaintive, "Meow" while looking back at Sinric.

"Oh stop, you've barely met him," Matt chides the animal.

Sinric laughs softly and unties a ribbon for the cat to keep. "Go well, little one. You're safe with him."

The cat reaches out to snatch that ribbon, pulling it close to play with while in Matt's arms.

"Thanks," he says to Sinric, giving a nod before heading for the door.

"Best of luck." Sinric smiles and goes back to his book.
