Massive multipup sick-day post

They're all there:
  • Teja, in the forge, sharpening a sahs;
  • Ragnar, by the stables, feeding the goats;
  • Father Harman, on the steps of Javert's little church, taking out wilted flowers;
  • Hannibal Lecter, in the herb garden by the kitchen's back door, picking basil;
  • Galen Erso, by the door of the greenhouse, sorting through a mess of crystals and wires;
  • Lady Margolotta, in the darkest corner of the bar, knitting baby shoes.

Not too much: - this is Milliways, after all!

"That is a very useful ability," the man says. "Thank you."

She makes no verbal answer, only lifting a shoulder in a quiet shrug.

"Why are you taking the flowers away?" she asks, though her mouth never moves. Still her voice echoes through his ears.

He hardly even raises an eyebrow at her.

"They are done, have finished blooming and are wilting now."

"Yes, I know. But why remove them before they've dried?" she asks, cocking her head.

"Dead flowers still serve as decoration. It would be appropriate for a church."

"No," Harman says. "They're seen as sad and ugly, not a decoration. Intentionally dried flowers are different."

"All dead things are sad and ugly in some sense," she replies. And looks at the cross at the head of the church, the altar and its trappings. "Here of all places it seems pointless to remove something because it is dead."
