[OOM: Gearing Up]
Gabriel's headed back to the armor room when Milliways finds him. He's still wearing the prototype battledress, with the large red crystal in the center of his chest and tubing feeding out from its casing, as the door slides open. The tubing on the gauntlets clips the doorframe as he steps in with a dull clunk and he jerks his arm in quickly with a curse, checking it for damage. It's gotta be durable, right? It's armor designed for people with super strength, it should be fine, right?
He looks worried as he tries to finagle his arm to be able to see his elbow.

Yamato's intrigued, to say the least. He comes ambling over, a milkshake in one hand, peering at the red crystal and the tubes feeding out from it. He's not nearly as excitingly dressed himself, in just a t-shirt and jeans, but there's the edge of a burn mark visible at the collar of his t-shirt that's definitely new.
"It's very -- sci-fi."

"Gonna talk to Gallegos about protecting these better." He gestures to the gauntlet's tubing as he lifts his arm. "You don't see any dings back here, do you?"
no subject
"It doesn't look damaged. You might want to get this Gallegos guy to check the inside of the tubing, though, just in case there's damage that can't be seen from the outside."
no subject
He jerks his head at the burn scar. "Prototype do that?"
no subject
"No, no, this was a Sakusimon that I ended up in a fight with," he says.
no subject
He has no idea what Sakusimon is outside of it being a digimon who burns shit.
"You got armor now?" He looks curious. But also it's about damn time.
no subject
Although the process was maybe a little more complicated than he makes it sound.
"They make useful weapons, but when I put them on they fuse with me, and that was, er, unexpected."
no subject
"Fuse? And you're calling my shit sci-fi?"
no subject

He looks smug.
"Maser," he admits after a moment.

no subject
No, seriously, are you part data now, Yamato?
no subject
After a moment's pause, he adds: "It's not that unusual. It's always been possible to make Digimon out of a Chosen, that's how our partners were made, this is a similar process, just more temporary."
no subject
"Sounds pretty fucking adorable, dude. Wait, so do you shoot lasers now?" Digimon have powers, right?
no subject
no subject
"How can you argue this with me? You are clearly way more sci-fi. Teleport? Seriously?"
Beat.
"Pretty fucking cool." He's almost jealous.
no subject
The most sci-fi, one might say.
"Thanks," he adds bashfully. "It's come in handy a few times already, so I'm pretty happy with how the prototype turned out. But, er, I do need to figure out how to make something similar for Taichi now."
no subject
He shrugs.
"That mean you need another busted magical sword? Doesn't strike me as common."
no subject
It's not good to take apart other people's technology, and Yamato's not completely sure he'd be able to put it back together again.
"Lord Goemon has seven more swords like this, but none of the others are broken, and he's got no reason to give anyone a sword he can still use," he says. "But I might be able to make something by just splicing together remnant data from different Digimon."
no subject
"Not when I just got it. They'll never let me test shit again." Don't deny him access to new toys, Yamato, that would be sad.
He tilts his head to one side, thoughtful. "How's that different from what you did for yours?"
no subject
Not even exaggerating there.
"It's -- not, in practice. Not that different, anyway. The sword was made from remnant data anyway, so I should be able to just skip the middleman there. But I'll need some pretty high quality data. Perfect-level, at least."
no subject
Yamato would win, unless Cisco cheats with tech.
"Hnn. That something you can ask nicely for?"
no subject
He'd probably break out the shrink ray.
"Digimon shed data like that all the time, it's not too tough to get a hold of it. Finding a Perfect-level Digimon that's suitable is a whole different matter, though. Ideally, I'd want something that syncs up with Taichi pretty well, so a dragon or a dinosaur. They're already pretty rare."
no subject
Yeah, definitely cheating.
"What about birds? Dragons fly and dinosaurs turned into birds, so kinda similar."
no subject
It will be useful if Yamato's brother ever grows taller than him.
"Nah, birds are synced with Sora," Yamato says. "Each of us is aligned with a couple of different types of Digimon -- dragons, dinosaurs, and the undead for Taichi, beasts and demons for me, that kind of thing -- and even when it would make sense given how things actually evolve, most 'mons of those types can't turn into another Crest's type. Dinosaurs can turn into zombies, but they can't turn into birds."
