[oom: Recently, after a difficult mission, Kanan followed Hera back to her room.]
"I've seen plenty of babies fed them –"
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean it's good for them –"
"Look, Kanan, it's the only thing onboard I know is safe for Ithorian infants and he's going to need something before –"
And this is the moment when Hera realizes the door they just passed through didn't actually lead to the Ghost's galley. Kanan's a step behind her, cradling in his arms a baby who… looks nothing like either one of them, with his rather protruding eyestalks and curved head. Hera glances around, and then back at Kanan with a small smile. "All right, looks like you win."
A few minutes later, they're situated at the bar with the baby on the bartop between them, Hera and Kanan with mugs of caf, and a cup of some kind of green-gray mush that the baby happily sucked up through an elaborate, multi-pronged straw fitted along his left-side mouth.
[ooc: We haven't been around for a while but - hi! Two muns, open til it scrolls.]

"You'll drink this, Ishida, or I swear I'll pour it into your eyes, you complete and utter ass-- ..." And then the door shuts.
He ambles over to the Bar, wrapping the blanket a little tighter around himself, and gives a curious look at the baby. And then at Hera. And then at Kanan. Hera. Kanan. Baby. Hera. Kanan. Baby.
"... Mazel tov," he says eventually. "He has your eyes."

Smiling slightly, "Really? Because I thought he looked more like Kanan."
no subject
She loves him, really.

Alas for all his carefully-laid plans.
(And excuse you, Yamato. Kanan actually has a nose.)
no subject
To Hera, he adds: "I'm sure she'll understand. Accidents happen."
no subject
"All right, it's too weird for me now."
The baby rustles and lets out a low, vibrating cry. Hera reaches out and carefully removes the straw from his mouth and lifts him up against her arms. "Not ours, we're just getting him back to his family."
[ooc: Just fyi, other mun has gone to bed for the night but will tag tomorrow!]

He always thought his facial hair looked good. Maybe this new guy just has no taste.
"It's a tough galaxy out there for a kid on his own," is what he says, looking over at Hera and the baby. "We've got to stick together."

She looks back down at the baby to adjust him in her arms. "Or he would have been, if Kanan hadn't stopped it."
no subject
Because it's true.
"It wasn't a solo effort."
no subject
He's tempted to ask why the kid was being stolen, but it occurs to him that that might be a question too far, at least right now.
no subject
She looks back up to Yamato. "I'm Hera, and I think his -" she presses her thumb to the baby's small hand, "- name is Pypey."
no subject
Kanan, meanwhile, reaches out to gently shake Pypey's left foot.
Speaking of getting the ship back to normal --
"You think Chop will mind if we give the porg to the baby when he leaves?"
no subject
"You two have a porg too? A friend of mine here ended up adopting one. And I think there's a wild one running around here, too."
no subject
"And we didn't notice until our droid decided to adopt him."
no subject
How to put this delicately?
" . . . cantankerous."
This is an understatement.
"So we're stuck."
no subject
Beat.
"When he's big enough, he'll probably try to destroy the city. It's only a matter of time."
no subject
With a wry smile, "Though that might change if he spends enough time with Chopper."
no subject
"If you ever see him," Kanan says to Yamato, " -- Chop, I mean, please don't say anything about destroying cities."
no subject
To Kanan, he adds: "My lips are sealed. I won't bring up any kind of evil overlord-y city-smashing for him to get ideas about."
no subject
Pypey lets out a low gurgle and Hera bounces him slightly on her lap. "Where are you from Yamato, if you don't mind my asking?"
no subject
And then stops. Because Hera.
"Right. Not that despotic."
Sure!
He shifts his attention to Yamato, too.
"No giant birds wherever that is? Or . . . too many giant birds?"
no subject
Giant other things, too.
