May the Fourth Be With The All Skate

The bar shifts, or it changed when no one was looking, and now resembles a certain cantina popular with the villainy and scum, as well as more upstanding folks. The air is dryer than usual, and a taste of grit and sand just hangs in the air. It just makes you want some blue milk doesn't it?

Has your character changed? Perhaps...who can tell? The Landlord I suppose but they aren't talking.

"So in escaping here, you have left Skywalker and the girl?" He knows her name. And would not trifle with her. But it would probably annoy Skywalker to her Asohka called that. "Surely they need a vacation as well."

"You've met them," - when Obi-Wan's from he hasn't be Ahsoka yet, but it sure sounds like he has - "would you bring them with you on a relaxing vacation?"

"Why not? There are many wonders at Jabba's palace. And the pod racing. Don't forget the pod racing. You can parlay the smallest bet into a fortune in a matter of minutes.

"Not that I gamble, you understand. There's always the chance I would walk away with less than I started." Also, it's easier to rob the gamblers of their new fortunes.

He genuinely almost chokes on his drink at the idea of letting Anakin Skaywalker anywhere near the pod racing circuit again.

"Somehow I don't think they'd let us in."

"Who would say no to a Jedi? Especially one who rescued the son of Jabba the Hutt. You would be treated like royalty.

"Or at least not like rabble." How Hondo knows about that escapade is his secret.

“You’d be surprised the number of times we’re not treated with any due respect,” Obi-Wann remarks. And then, of course, “I don’t suppose you’re going to tell me how you know about that?”

"You would be surprised how little that goes on within the Hutt empire that doesn't become common knowledge." Which is true for the most part if not necessarily the case regarding the kidnapping.

"Would I indeed?"

Now that's a thought. "Sounds like a fascinating network of information."

[pirate_hondo]

"Surely the Jedi have their own network, as does the army. I can't imagine there aren't one or two spies with the palace." Actually, he can. The Jedi don't understand how to fight a war and the army is hampered by being the same face a million times. A face easily recognized by someone who used to hire Jango.

Well, of course they do. And of course, Obi-Wan's not going to act like it isn't a completely new concept to him.

"What a good idea."

Hondo has to laugh. "I enjoy the games we play. Talking around each other as if we're both trying to pull a scam. You would make a good scam artist, I would think. Even with your Jedi mind tricks."

"I like to think I wouldn't do that badly without them."

(Man, he resents that Hondo's fun to be around.)

"I suppose it's my good fortune that you are a Jedi and not working scams. I hardly need any more competition." Not that Hondo would list "con artist" before "pirate" on some fictional resume.

"Just as it's my good fortune you're not working for the Separtists."

Much. Most of the time.

"Why would I ever work for the Separatists? An army of mindless robots, led by a clown who thinks he's a Jedi, led in turn by a failed Jedi and failed politician. Don't get me wrong, I will do business with them, you know that. But work for them? No, they are not worthy of that." Best to be neutral. More or less.
