[OOM: Return to Odaiba.]

Yamato's been enjoying being out of the Digital World's wilderness and back on Earth. When he enters the bar, he's cut his hair for the first time in a couple of months, and traded out his travelling clothes for a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt.

The newfound possibilities for a little bit of relaxation haven't stopped him from working, though, as the file he's flicking through as he walks. He manages to amble his way over to Bar without looking up (and only crashes into one or two waitrats), settling on one of the stools.

"You cut your hair," Quentin says as he sits down next to Yamato.

"Back in Odaiba. And in a safehouse," Yamato says, knocking a shoulder against Quentin's. "Which has scissors and a mirror, so I can actually cut my hair halfway decently."

"A safehouse?" That doesn't as good as it could be. He returns the shoulder bump and ruffles Yamato's hair.

"Bureau safehouse. We've got, er, journalists crowding around most of our homes right now, so Agent Nishijima set us up in a safehouse for a week or two."

"Why are journalists bothering you?" That's not a good sign.

"We got arrested," Yamato says mildly. "Agent Nishijima got us out of it, but someone -- Gennai -- must have tipped off the press."

Quentin sighs and hugs Yamato, "Oberon's beard, he's awful and never lets up."

Yamato gives a soft grumble, leaning into that hug.

"As far as plays to make our lives difficult go, contacting the press is a pretty mild one," he notes. "More petty than anything."

"Still its trapping you. Is he doing anything else to you?"

"Not specifically to us, but he had Meicoomon attack a power station about five hours before we got back. It's still burning right now," Yamato says. "And a few hours before we got back, he also set up Digimon to occupy most of the Gates -- only the Tokyo Gates and the Colorado Gate were left alone. They're not attacking anyone, but people are terrified all the same."

"So he's threatening everyone? Why?" There must be something he wants.

"'If the canary won't sing, then coax it,'" Yamato says, shrugging a shoulder. "He's exerting pressure. On us, to try and make us make a move, but also probably on the Bureau and the rest of the world, as well. While we're holding back and focusing on making a cure, he's in a disadvantageous position if he decides to attack directly -- but if he exerts more and more pressure, he can force a fight on his terms."

"So everyone's trapped and waiting for someone else to make a move?" Its an awful situation.

"He'll probably keep pushing until he can force someone to make a move. But if we can make progress on this cure, then we might be able to win without having to fight," Yamato says.

"I hope you can find a cure before he attacks," Quentin leans on Yamato's shoulder, "Are you keeping busy?"

"I've not had a whole lot of time to keep busy in," Yamato notes wryly. "I spent most of tonight either cooking or cutting my hair."

"Which looks nice. Have you had dinner?" Or does Yamato need feeding.

"I ate with the others, don't worry. After spending two hours cooking for the team, I wasn't just going to stand around and not eat some myself."

"Then you need a proper break. Want to watch a movie and do nothing for a while?"

"You're fussing," Yamato says wryly. "Cooking isn't exactly an arduous task, especially when I'm working with a proper kitchen instead of a campfire."

"I'll stop fussing. What did you make?" Yamato must have liked having a proper kitchen again.

"Nikujaga. Beef and vegetables simmered slowly in a mix of soy, sake, and mirin," Yamato says.

"That sounds good."

"It's simple and easy to make, even if it does take a couple of hours," Yamato says. "I don't think I had anything more complicated in me, after the police questioning, and the ghost stories at the school, and all that stuff."

"The police questioned you?"
