We're sorry, Milliways.

But Obi-Wan Kenobi has a song stuck in his head.

He's not doing anything crass like humming or singing it out loud. In fact, he's just sitting quietly at the bar, reading from a datapad and drinking.

It's just that the Force is now echoing with it, and as we all know the Force can have a strong influence on the weak minded, so...

"Genetics, I'm trying to understand the causes behind my telepathy and those with other abilities that I've met."

Obi-Wan cracks a small smile. "You haven't tried scanning for midichlorians?"

"What are midichlorians?" Is that something he should be looking into?

Obi-Wan waves a hand dismissively. "Oh micro-organisms that are rich in the Force. They're more numerous in the blood of peple who have high force sensitivity, I doubt it's actually what you're looking for."

Because what Charles has isn't Force senstivity.

"Genetics, though. that could be interesting. Especially if your powers are so different from each other. Is your sister...?"

He trails off, because the question he wants to ask is is she genetically your sister, as the image he got didn't quite match, but he imagines that's a clumsy way to put it out loud.

Charles picks up on the question and takes a sip of his tea, "We adopted each other and I think in my world, genetics is the best way to try and trace these abilities."

"I think you might be right," Obi-Wan agrees. "I wish I could help - genetics is fairly advanced in my Galaxy but I'm unfortunately not an expert."

"I understand, there's always more to learn but I enjoy hearing about how the Jedi function,"

Science has many variations which don't always track across worlds.

"The real genetic experts are the Kaminoans," Obi-Wan explains. "They created the clone army. But of course, none of them are Force senstive as far as I know."

"Clone army, that must be a complicated process,"

And what that seems like it could have many unexpected consequences.

"It is, I believe," he confirms. "But as I say, I'm no expert. I know the men that come from the facility are all fine soldiers."

And a few are good friends.

"That's good. How similar are the clones to each other?"

Does that make it harder to lead them? And choosing to make an army of clones seems a strange choice.

"As similar as any brothers are to each other."

Including brothers not-by-blood, like Charles and his sister, and Obi-Wan and his brother.

"But it's their training, and their hearts, that make them such fine soldiers."

"I see. How long have you been fighting alongside them?"

From how Obi-Wan is talking, there must be a deep bond there.

"A few months, only," he says. "Though it feels like much longer. I owe my life to them several times over already."

"Jedi haven't fought beside clones before?"

He's trying to get a sense of how normal this is for Obi-Wans galaxy.

"We've only known clones exiosted for that time," Obi-Wan says. "The army was commisioned but we only recently found out about it."

"That's an unusual situation," It seems an odd way to get an army.

"Everything about this war is unusual," Obi-Wan remarks. "But the Separatists are mass producing battle droids. Our soldiers have the skill and the numbers to hold them back."

And he hates the level of death it's producing, but it feels like the only option.

Charles frowns as droids sounds like robots and he can feel Obi-Wan's unhappiness, "That must be awful."

"War is always awful," Obi-Wan agrees. "We do what we must."

"We do," And often there's not much that can be done but try to heal after.
