Sameth enters with a sheaf of papers that he takes up to Bar and starts a conversation with her about converting his notes into something that Fives can use. Partway through the conversation, a datapad appears with projections of the taken apart droid hand, diagrams of Lirael's hand and Sameth starts manipulating the image. He didn't realize that this kind of view was possible and soon he's taking notes on parchment while also playing with the projection.

At a later point, there's a note for Fives along with the datachip full of information. Fives, I've put together all my notes and diagrams of the hand you gave me and the work I've done in building Lirael's hand. I don't know what will be useful since no one else does what I do in the Old Kingdom. Find me if you have questions.

Down farther along the bar Wen Qing is studying her own datapad. Looking up to stretch her neck, she notices the young man with his own datapad.

"These are wonderful devices, are they not?"

He looks over and partly through his projection with a smile, "Yes, I didn't realize I could get a model like this."

Fives receives the datachip and immediately sends a note back:

Really helpful. Thanks!

And shortly after he's in a booth, looking through Sameth's notes and wondering if any of this is going to be relevent to Bucky and his doctor, but mostly just out of interest to himself.

When Sameth gets the note, he looks around to find Fives and then heads over to his booth with an awkward smile, "Hello, does it all make sense to you?"

"Not at all," Fives says cheerfully. "But it will: the stuff that doesn't make sense at least I can look up. Thanks."

"I learned a lot from looking at that droid hand, and I can always try and answer your questions. How are you doing?"

Fives seems in good spirits.

"Never better," he answers, which he would probably say if he was injured, but he's not bad in this case. "Sunshine fixed me right up, just heading back out shortly to the Rimsoo and then hopefully, back to Coruscant."

"That's good. So you're heading back to the end of your battle?"

Though Fives is in the middle of a war, that would make it more of a rest than an end.

"Battle's more or less over I think," Fives says. "Heading back for a debrief, maybe."

"Those are useful," Sameth's got a good bit of practice with them as they're a major way his family communicates.

"Yeah," Fives agrees. "In my case it's mostly going to be 'why didn't we kow there was an explosive under the city and why did I have to be the one to diffuse it," but I guess it won't be too bad."

It's also how his family communicates.

"Scouts didn't look deep enough underground?" That's the main reason Sameth can think for missing something like that.

"We relied on local intel," Fives says. "The resistance had been fighting for months. I guess they just didn't go down there very often, or didn't think to see if there were droids down there. It's a vicious thing to do."

"Resistance, that can help but not if they don't go there,"

Sameth hadn't realized how much the planet was occupied.

Honestly Fives doesn't blame the local Twi'leks for this - they had their hands full and Hera gave the impression that no one really went down there much at all.

"Yeah, well, it worked out this time. I guess they'll try and get more teams of ARCs doing patrols around sites just to make sure. No one really thought the Seppies would blow a city just 'cause they couldn't have it."

"That seems stupid and like it doesn't help anyone other than to show they can destroy it,"

All it would do was create refugees who were angry at losing their homes.

"And means we can't stage operations from the city," Fives says. "It might drive the Repuplic from the planet altogether, leave the Twi'leks to rebuild. Hope that we wouldn't, but it would devalue the place, strategically."

"That's a brutal strategy."

Half-resigned: "That's the seppies for you."

"I hope you can defeat before they destroy too much more,"

That kind of strategy leaves a lot of pain behind and helping the refugees has Sameth very aware of those consequences.

"Me too," Fives says dryly. "Every victory counts."

"It does." That's how Sameth was raised, every win matters and is a way to protect your home.
