First entrance

"Wanda, I'm going out for a --"

Vision crosses the threshold, then pauses. He was about to put on his human guise but at the sight of this place, he decides it can wait.

He looks around with an expression of gentle curiosity.

But Wanda's making a beeline to him from inside the Bar. "Vis! What are you doing here?"

[myownvision]

He beams at the sight of her. (Not literally. That would be dangerous.) "I meant to go out for the papers, but came here instead.

"Where is 'here', exactly?"

[scarletrevenger]

This is going to be too much fun. She grabs his hand and gently leads him toward the Bar herself. "It's called Milliways. It's a different dimension, at the end of the universe."

"Like a pocket dimension? Or an entire world?"

[scarletrevenger]

Oh dear. She hadn't asked that many questions; the brochure seemed to explain enough. "I think pocket? It just seems to be the bar itself."

[myownvision]

"Fascinating," Vision murmurs and moves closer to the bar. He runs his fingertips lightly over the wood. "It seems to be some sort of ..." He tilts his head. "I can't tell what it is."

"Sentient." That's what the brochure said anyway. "Ask it for something."

[myownvision]

Vision looks nonplussed. "Coffee?"

Up pops a cup of coffee, black. Vision laughs out loud.

Wanda grins. "Isn't it amazing?"

[myownvision]

"Quite." He picks up the cup and sips. "Though I suppose it's best to be specific when ordering. Would you like some? It's hot."

Flavor is still something he's learning about, so temperature will have to do.

"Yes, I'll take that." She asks for a saucer and sets the hot mug on it to cool. "I'm happy you're here. I was beginning to think it would have to be my secret."

[myownvision]

He smiles down at her. "I'm happy too. I'd hate for you to feel obligated to keep secrets from me."

[scarletrevenger]

"I'd prefer not to," she says, swinging his hand a little. "I don't want to hide anything from you."

[myownvision]

He lets her swing his hand, still smiling. "Would you like to get something to eat and enjoy the atmosphere a while?"

[scarletrevenger]

"Yes. I'll just have a salad for now." She picks it up from the bar and, letting his hand go, the coffee as well. "They have very comfortable sofas."

[myownvision]

"Here, let me carry the coffee." He takes the mug and saucer. "The sofas sound delightful."

[scarletrevenger]

"We can curl up by the fireplace," she says, a bit of excitement in her voice. "Wouldn't it be nice to have that all the time?"

[myownvision]

"It would be very nice." Though the closeness to Wanda is a greater draw to him than the potential warmth of the fire. "It would be cozy."

He's pretty sure that's the right word for the sensation.

"Very cozy." Not so much what they have in the safe houses they've been staying in.

She chooses a loveseat and curls up with her salad on one side, patting the other for him to sit beside her.

[myownvision]

Vision sits beside her, and offers his arm for her to lean against. He can't quite figure out what to do with his legs.

She snuggles into him happily. This is all she really wants in life right now. "Vis, are you happy?"

[myownvision]

"Yes," Vision says without hesitation. "Your company always makes me happy.

"Are you?"

[scarletrevenger]

"I'm happy with you," she answers. "I'm not happy with us not being able to settle down."

[myownvision]

He kisses the top of her head, and rests his chin on it briefly. "I believe that won't last forever. We must have hope."

[scarletrevenger]

She can't help but smile. "You're my hope."

[myownvision]

He caresses her cheek. "You're mine."

[scarletrevenger]

Wanda leans up to give him a lingering kiss. "We'll get out of it somehow."

[myownvision]

Vision's eyes remain closed a moment after the kiss, and then his gaze rests tenderly on her face. "I want to give you a home. We'll find a way."

[scarletrevenger]

"Together, we can do anything we want." She knows this to be true deep down inside.

[myownvision]

Vision brings her hand to his mouth to drop a kiss on her palm.

"What an extraordinary thing love is," he remarks in a soft voice. "You're an enhanced human, I'm made up of artificial intelligence and this," he touches the Mind Stone, "and yet it's only in partnership that we feel we can move mountains."

"I don't know about me," she says matching his tone of voice, "but you can move anything you want to."

[myownvision]

"You can," Vision whispers. "You can do anything."

He leans back against the sofa, his arm around her. "But all you need to do now is relax. And eat!"

[scarletrevenger]

"One thing at a time, right?"

Daniel really needs to stop setting up near the door with all the distractions. He looks up from his pile of books and papers at the new guy. He's sure he's never seen him here before.

"I take it you're new," he says with a sigh. Milliways has a habit of just randomly showing up when you least expect it. "And yes it's real. The first drink is free, and the rules are simple. No outside business, no violence in the Bar, and No nudity. Even Pan has to wear a loincloth."

[myownvision]

"Oh," says Vision. "Yes. Thank you."He double-checks himself to make sure he's wearing clothes.

Phew! He remembered.

"You're welcome," says Daniel, "I'm Daniel Jackson, from Earth. You?"

[myownvision]

"Vision," says Vision, "also from Earth, despite appearances.

"I can put on a more human appearance, if that would make you more comfortable."

I was down in the main bar getting an external hard drive and a bunch of adapters when a new machine intelligence walked in. (With an electromagnetic profile like that, there's no way it wasn't a machine intelligence.) (Okay, not 'it' but 'they' or 'he' or 'her' or something. The machine intelligences who came to Milliways had a weird habit of having genders.)

Although I have a really hard time just going up to strange humans and talking to them, I'm totally okay with walking up to machine intelligences. They usually don't have all those human characteristics that make me nervous. So I slipped the external hard drive into one of my more capacious pockets and walked up to the new arrival at the Front Door.

"Hello," I said. I also waved, a little. "This is Milliways, an extradimensional hotel that picks up people from all over time and space. It's at least as weird as you're probably thinking. My name is SecUnit, and my pronouns are it/its or they/them."
