There's an elf lord in the bar today.
He is dressed for practical work, tunic, trousers, soft leather shoes, and his hair is braided and tied away from his face.
Right now, he is seated at a table and opposite him, a spear is balanced against a chair.
He asked, when he first came in, if it would be permissable, and he'd been granted leave.
It's old, but well kept. And it is big. Clearly meant for someone tall and strong, clearly meant for combat.
And he has no idea what to do with it, so for now he sits, studying it.
Occasionally shaking his head a little, as you do when faced with a problem without an easy answer.
"Oh, Aeglos. Whatever shall I do with you?"

"Holy shit," she murmurs to herself.
She approaches Elrond, delighted.
"I thought I was the only elf here!"
no subject
He turns at her greeting and smiles.
"Well met, lady. We are few and far between, that is true, but I know of two or three others that come here or at least have done so in the past."

"My name is Elrond Half-elven," he replies. "I call the world of Arda home."
no subject
"I'm from...well, we just kinda call it the Two-Sunned Planet."
no subject
"The Two-Sunned Planet."
He smiles.
"Are they a twinned pair of do they move each of their own accord? I immediately imagine the first, but we only have one sun, so perhaps that is expected."
Two suns!

Probably won't for a while, either, but she can manage to spare this guy the gory details.

But it's still gorgeous.
So he's ogling it a little (a lot) as he strolls by on his way to fetch more tea to fuel his research project over in the corner. Just look at the craftsmanship! So pretty!

It is a very beautiful weapon.
Elrond smiles at the young man admiring it and says, "It used to being to a king."
no subject
"Ahhh, my apologies, this one did not mean to intrude."
no subject
Elrond spreads his hands before him
"No apology is needed," he says. "You've granted me a moment's reprieve from my thoughts and for that I thank you."
no subject
"I was going to get tea... I come back with some to share, if you like?"
no subject
"That would be very welcome. Thank you," Elrond replies. With feeling.
He would indeed welcome both distractions and company.
no subject
"I am Wei Wuxian, by the way, in case you need the name of the strange man drooling over your weapon."
no subject
It feels strangely familiar, the care taken to pour tea gracefully.
He smiles.
"My name is Elrond Half-elven, and the spear does not, as such, belong to me. I have merely kept it safe."

"Hello Elrond," she greets, verbally this time, voice soft and light.

And then he nods at her table. "Is it your own?"
To him, that would not seem odd at all.

"This is the larger of my two. I have one in .45 caliber and the other in 9 milimeter. One for practice, one to conceal." Because people don't usually get very far wearing a pistol openly. "I was using it this morning outside."
Not on anyone living, in case Elrond is concerned. "But cleaning it is...soothing." Repetitive, she means, but it's a long story on how the two conflate.
no subject
He nods.
"It's good if you're able to enjoy the process somewhat. Cleaning is necessary and important. And a never-ending task it sometime seems."
no subject
"It's quiet. There's a rhythm to it that's...calming." She knows all the steps to clean a gun. She doesn't have to worry about overthinking it.
"I practiced the braid you showed me. I can almost do it on my hair." It's slow going because she doesn't quite have hair long enough to make it easy. But still, there's effort.

"Is the spear yours?" she asks, looking up from the pistol. No one will bother it or the pieces.
no subject
"No. It belonged to my king. I've kept it since he died."
