The thing is: Wei Wuxian is trying.
As much as he complains about the guy, he knows Mo Xuanyu made an incredible sacrifice so he can be here. As much as he tries to not dwell on it, he knows Lan Zhan went through hell on his account. He should not be here, and he should not be supported, but he is, so... he's trying. Trying to build muscle onto a frame that's been underweight and underfed for far too long. Trying to strengthen a golden core that has never been properly cared for, as far as he can tell. Trying to not be a burden, a waste of all that effort.
So Wei Wuxian is out by the lakeside, meditating on the rocks.
And then, a little later, because the sun is warm and the sound of the water is soothing and he's still recovering from his (light) stabbing ... Wei Wuxian is snoozing on the rocks.
But he is trying. He'll try again once naptime is over.

Singing softly.

Things change.
Given a safe spot and comfy bedding he'll still try to sleep the morning away, but he's more easy to startle awake now. Turns out war and the nasty sequelae from it have a way of changing a lot of things.
So he wakes, confused and a little disoriented before he remembers his sun-sabotaged meditation attempt. That doesn't explain the singing though.

He walks around a large rock, coming into view.
Tunic, trousers, a long sleeved robe the colours of a winter morning.
Long, dark hair moving in the breeze.
Ancient eyes lit by the light of stars.

But also doesn't seem to be a threat, so that's nice. Goodness knows he's had quite enough of that. So he watches, curious, while attempting to catalog this stranger into the list of non-human entities he knows.
(He's not being terribly successful)

His demeanor is relaxed and friendly. He is aware that the Man is watching him with intention and not just curiosity.

He hopes no, anyway.

He sounds like he means it. Rest is important and it may take many forms.

"The beach here is not unlike the one I grew up close to."

And then he introduces himself. "I am Elrond of Imladris. Well met here at border between land and sea."

So he takes off his shoes, ties up his robes, rolls up his trousers and wades out into the lake searching for lotus leaves to provide some shade.

(He's so relieved he sleeps better now. Something about not being in constant low-level pain makes for better sleep, who knew?)
(Wen Qing. Wen Qing knew.)
So he's rousing, but slowly - the rock is still nice and warm, and there's nothing pinging as new or alarming in his senses, so... why abandon a nap you don't have to?

"Wen Ning! When did you get here? And..." He looks back at the shade that somehow arrived when he wasn't paying attention raising his eyebrows.

He waves the leaf in his hand at him.

Nobody wants Wen Qing's disapproval; no need to go into details what exactly she would do to them.

Really.

That's just natural.

Honestly, how can he be expected to bear these burdens?
