Thanksgiving is definitely a human thing but also an excuse to eat good food, so Quentin has a plate that starts with a leftover sandwich then has all the sides and another plate of different kinds of pies. The sandwich is falling apart in a good way and he's glad that he doesn't have to do court today, nothing to worry about getting dirty. Instead he can eat and watch hockey games on the Milliways' television.

His ears are slightly more visible under his wet hair as he only woke up a little while ago.

Someone may be coming to steal your pies, Quentin.

Or just sit down in the booth, making puppy-dog eyes and occasionally flicking his gaze over to the pies. Yamato is very subtle, you see.

Quentin is licking up a piece of escaping cranberry sauce when Yamato sits down and notes the gaze. He sighs, pushes the plate over and says, "Then order more."

"Thank yoooouuu," Yamato says, dropping his chin onto Quentin's shoulder and picking up a pie. "I'll get some more for us when we're done with these, don't worry."

He smiles and turns to kiss Yamato's cheek now that he's finished his sandwich, "Good."

"Been up to much?" Yamato asks, chowing down on his pie.

"Not too much, helping Toby with cases and training. What about you? How's your fight going?"

"We think we've got a way to force this fog ... thing ... into a form we can actually fight," Yamato says, rubbing a hand across the back of his neck. "We just have to try it out. And be ready to deal with any other complications that might come bursting in."

"How are you going to do that? There are Fae that are basically air called Folletti, they're hard to fight."

Maybe Yamato's strategy could help if Quentin ever has to fight Folletti again. He puts his arm around Yamato and rubs his shoulder.

"The Digimon it's chasing, Luminamon, says it can force it back into solid form if it has something to amplify its powers over the city. We're getting it set up with the Odaiba broadcast tower," Yamato says. "But it's going to be a huge 'Luminamon is here' beacon, so we should expect trouble from whoever's hunting it in the first place."

"Traps are bad that way, especially when they involve going here I am. I hope it works."

"I've got a plan for when they come to collect," Yamato says, rubbing the back of his neck. "It's a risky one, but nothing's new there, all my plans are risky."

"Yeah, you and Toby are alike that way. How risky is it?"

He leans on Yamato, who gets hurt too often and doesn't heal as fast as would reassure Quentin.

"Long term risky more than short term risky. Less imminent chance of injury, more a chance that it might come back to bite us in the future."

"How?" That's ominous.

"I've made a copy of Luminamon's data. That way, whatever they want from her, they can take that and she'll hopefully not be of any more interest to them," Yamato says. "But -- you can probably see how giving them what they want could backfire on us. I've embedded a virus in the data, but there's no guarantee they won't find it and remove it."

"So is that like giving them some of her blood since its who she is?"

He knows that data isn't exactly the same but the whole thing seems risky.

"More like making a lifeless simulacra of her and handing that over, but I guess that's splitting semantic hairs a little."

"I hope it works cause it just sounds creepy."

"It is, I guess. But hopefully, it'll be close enough to her to fool the people after her, at least."

"Yeah, the fog can help you out there. I'm ordering more pie," This conversation needs pie.

"Well. If amplifying her powers works, the fog will be gone by then," Yamato says, with a slight grimace. "Nowhere to hide, we just have to hope they aren't paying too close attention."

Quentin nods, one of those fights that's going to be awful even if the plan works, "What kinds of pie do you want?"

"Something with fruit, maybe? Or -- some kind of dessert pie. I feel like something sweet."

"Cherry pie can be really good, let's do that," The rat hears them and soon comes back with two generous slices of pie.

"I guess it is a classic," Yamato says thoughtfully, pulling his slice of pie closer. "Along with apple pie."

"It is and there are good cherries out where I live."

"Is it the right season for them where you are? Cherries ripen in August or thereabouts, right?"

"I'm not sure. California seasons are weird," And he's never really paid that much attention to when fruits grow.

"Fair enough," Yamato chuckles, leaning in to nudge his head against Quentin's, then angling himself to settle a hand on the other boy's back and kiss him.

Quentin smiles into the kiss and leans in tight to Yamato.

"Cherry pies were a good idea," Yamato murmurs. "You taste like cherries now."

Quentin makes a happy sound as he keeps on kissing, he likes cherries and Yamato.
