The Cherry Blossoms Disappear
For all of Sunday there was a strong breeze, and the cherry trees shed their blossoms in it. Blossoms filled the air and fell on every surface, as green shoots appeared on tree branches.
Some time around midnight, the last blossom fell. Clouds passed over the moon. When the clouds cleared, all the trees, blossoms, and features of the landscape that came with them were gone. No more pavilion, no more stone lanterns. The outdoors were as they had been before.
The cherry blossoms will return again next year.
