Here we are then, nil desperandum my dears. Not precisely a medical man, you know, but I've served my time and one does get used to a bit of impromptu patching-up.

He studies Snow critically for a minute, unhurried, timing the contractions.

Now, let us see if I remember my lessons properly from anatomy class. Three minutes and ten centimetres is the ideal, if I recall.
