Jack is in a better mood by early evening, and quickly dresses for his date with Audrey in the dress shirt and pants he'd worn to work the day he'd arrived in Milliways. For a moment he debates wearing the tie, but decides he's not going to wear it if he doesn't have to.

Walking down to the bar, he takes a seat, waiting for Audrey to arrive.

Audrey enters the bar wearing a dark green skirt and a beige top. She spots Jack sitting. She walks to him and smiles.

Jack sptos Audrey walking over to him and gives her a quick kiss on the cheek when she arrives. "You look great."

She looks him up and down. "So do you." Although, she notes, there's something rather anxious and unhappy about him. She doesn't press.

"Come on, let's grab a table." They find a table over in corner and Jack pulls out a chair for Audrey. "How was your day?"

Audrey sits, placing her purse beside the chair. "Guess," she says.

Jack pushes her chair in before seating himself across from her. "Most boring day ever?" he says with a slight smile.

"On a scale of one to fifty, I'd put it in the top ten. Not number one, but not the most exciting, either."

"More meetings? You know I have to wonder how people can find so much to talk about. And why they have to meet with everyone else to talk about it."

"The only thing that got me through the day was knowing I had a hot date."

"Really? You meeting up with someone else later, then?"

She laughs loudly. "Yes. My husband, Paul. He'll probably stand me up."

"You're meeting up with Paul tonight?" He's not quite teasing anymore.

She notices his sudden turn in tone. "No. I'm not." She smiles reassuringly.

He mentally shakes himself--of course, she was just teasing. He's too jumpy tonight. "Ah, okay. How about I get us dinner from the bar? What do you want?"

"I don't know. How about...pizza? I'm not feeling healthy today."

"Sounds great. Usual toppings?"

"Yup."

"Back in a minute." He walks over to the bar and orders; something which is getting more and more normal every day, oddly enough. There's a momentary pause, then a bottle of wine, a small pizza with Audrey's chosen toppings and a plate of pasta with tomato sauce appears. Weird.

"Um, that was two pizzas?" The items don't move, and he remembers the bar is sentient. Perhaps it's giving him a hint.

He picks up the pizza and pasta, tucking the bottle of wine under his arm, taking it back to their table.

"Looks like the bar thinks I've been eating too much junk food lately."

"I think I agree with the bar."

He gives her a slightyl exasperated look as he fills their wineglasses. "I'm going to have to start jogging around the lake if I'm here much longer."

"There's a lake here?"

He nods as he inexpertly twirls spaghetti around his fork. Yes, the Bar definitely has it in for him.

"Out back. It's a bit cold out there now, though. And don't ask me how they managed to contain a lake at the end of the universe, either."

Audrey inserts a slice of pizza into her mouth. "Hmm." She says. "Mmmm."

He smiles at her, quickly swallowing his mouthful of pasta so he can speak. "Thanks for rubbing it in, Audrey."

"Mmmmmhmmmm." She makes sure to add an extra dose of pleasure in to make Jack even more jealous.

"Tease. Though actually this is pretty good."

"Of course. I don't think a magic bar would supply anything less than the best."

"I should hope so." He twirls his fork again, trying not to get tomato sauce on his shirt. "So have you had time to read anything new, lately?"

"I finally read The DaVinci Code." She bites off a peice of her pizza. "It sucked."

He snorts. "That's your full review? I think I'd even take Pride and Prejudice at this point."

"Pride and Prejudice definitely did not suck."

He rolls his eyes. "Yeah right. The entire book is two people thinking talking about how much they hate each other, then all of a sudden being head-over-heels. Yawn," he says teasingly.

"I disagree. I thought it was a very well-paced character study about two people who had some misconceptions about the ot her. It's something we can relate to modern life."

He shrugs. "I guess it's just too 'chick lit' for me."

"Jane Austen is not chick lit. 'Crappy' is part of the definition of 'chick lit'. Jane Austen is not crappy."

He gives her a lopsided smile. "Whatever you say, hon."

Kim sees her dad with a strange woman. Why is he talking to her? Well no time for wondering. She needs his attention.

"Dad!" She runs over and interrupts them.

Jack looks up in surprise to seem Kim runing toward him, looking frightened "Kim? What's wrong, are you okay?" he asks, jumping out of his seat.

Audrey looks on, confused. It's Jack's daughter...but why is she here? And why does she look so upset?

Kim looks over at the strange new woman sitting with her father. Who the hell is she?

Audrey notice's Kim's reaction and tries to hide a frown. She doesn't know. Audrey looks away.

Kim wonders why this woman cares about who she is but only a little because all of her attention right now is on why is Tony not moving?

Audrey watches Kim and Jack walk towards the stairs. She doesn't want to intrude, but she doesn't want to stay at the table alone.

She follows.

Kim hears the woman coming up behind them. Why is this stranger following them to Tony? People from the bar don't randomly follow people up to their rooms. Well, not in this situation at least.

"Dad, dad, it's Tony. He's...upstairs and he's not moving.

For a split second, Jack takes in what she said, then a feeling of total calm comes over him. "Where is he?" he asks, moving toward the stairs.

"He's in his room," yes this is what she needed her dad who never got upset, never freaked out, was always the rock in almost every situation. For a moment she forgot she was angry at him.

He glances back at Audrey to make sure she's following them, then turns back to Kim. "Show me where that is."

Kim runs down the hall and stops at a door.

"Here,"

They enter the room.
