*In the doorway, Crowley and a small blonde woman appear. She's holding tightly to his hand, but as soon as she's taken a seat in a booth he bows his head slightly, grinning, and heads to the bar. She watches him, chewing her lip thoughtfully*

*Tonks follows her gaze and facepalms, flushing slightly*

*she laughs, and reaches over to take Tonks' hand*

*Tonks grins and squeezes her hand lightly*

*She looks down at Sunny, who is sleeping contentedly against her shoulder despite the noisy bar*

This kid sleeps like the dead, angel. It's unreal.

Count yourself lucky, my dear. You wouldn't believe some of the youngsters I've had dragged into my shop on occasion.

*she shudders*

*Tonks winces*

Ugh, I don't even want to imagine having to deal with that. No, she's genuinely good-tempered. I suppose having had a lot of very unfortunate things happen to you will make you grateful when a good situation comes along.

*she squeezes Tonks' hand*

Well, for myself too, I suppose, but I meant Sunny. Have you heard anything about her life before she came here?

No. No, I hadn't.

*Tonks double checks that Sunny's asleep before continuing*

She and her brother and sister were placed in the care of a guardian after their parents died -- a guardian who, from the sound of things, is incredibly insane and desperately trying to get hold of the family fortune. He's killed people who've tried to help them, and locked Sunny in a sodding cage at one point.

*she looks murderous*

Good lord, Tonks, what is it with you attracting waifs with nightmare guardians? You're like some kind of fairy godmother.

*she kisses Tonks on the cheek*

*she laughs*

I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're right -- Sunny and Harry have a lot in common.

*she sighs*

Poor kid. Wish he'd had someone to come and take him away from the Dursleys, give him a better life and a family that loved him.

Yes. That would be a vast improvement on reality.

*she sighs*

How is he?

Quiet. And that worries me more than the tantrums he threw last year, frankly. Ever since Sirius...well. He hasn't been quite the same.

*she pinches her lip*

The world appears to have it in for him.

In the meantime...he's strong. Smart, too.
