"Thought so." Eddie hands over the glass.

"His name is Walter, and also Flagg, and also a hell of a lot of other things really. He might've been human once, but I find it hard to believe. He's dogged Roland on his quest all these many years, and he was ancient when Roland first met him. He brought Roland's land to ruin many years ago, killed Jake once, and pulled a lot of other dirty tricks even before he turned up at Milliways."

"He's gone now, but he's left us a fucking door to deal with."

"The weird kind," Eddie says. "It's only there on one side. We've seen doors like it--or pretty much like it--before. They led into people's minds, but they could be drawn physically through it. But we can't open it. And I'm a little worried that something is going to open it from the other side."

Does it need to be opened? I mean to say, if you just want it done away with, I could give Transfiguring it a go. I could also try Opening the door, if you really need it opened.

Eddie considers. "Would you mind taking a look at it? I'm not sure we want it destroyed, but none of us are wizards, and all we can do is stare at the fucker."

Living with Roland has given Eddie the ability to hear capital letters. "Open it?"

Eddie...gapes. "I coulda used you a coupla weeks ago." He pulls a leather bundle from under the bar; a holster with a belt shiny with bullets wrapped around it. "Me an' the widowmaker can kill most things that die. You up for checking it out tonight?"
