"Right. And when I say Snow White, I mean it...there's a lot of people here from worlds you probably think are fictional. You said Vegas, so I'm guessing you've seen...some pretty bizarre stuff...but you ain't lived until you find out the cute guy you were flirting with used to be a Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtle and Luke Skywalker is engaged to the Head Server."

Sara smirks. "I used to think that you hadn't lived until you tripped over a guy who, after driving a truck load of chickens into a house, tripped over a bird and killed himself while wearing an Elvis costume.

This sounds pleasantly chaotic. I'll be as careful as I can."

Faith boggles, then starts laughing. "Humans, man...the shit they do never ceases to amaze me. It was a human - cop actually - who brought a gun in. NYPD, thought he was walking into a kiddie porn bust and didn't want to admit he was wrong. Think he still thinks I was on PCP 'cause he saw me crush his gun in my hand."

"NYPD? Go figure--most of them are incapable of admitting mistakes. Though that's typical of most cops I've known."

Sara's head tilts curiously. "You're not human?"

"We've got one around here, Zeke Stone...good guy. I'm teaching him piano and he's teaching me to dance."

Faith grins. "Uhm, sort of. Not entirely. I have a demon bound to me so I can hunt other ones...in my world there's a lot of 'em and it's my job to fight 'em off. Since I was 16."

"Oh, I see." Sara grins. "I guess I shouldn't complain too much about my job. I've never had to fight a demon, and it doesn't sound like much fun."

"Yeah. It's not just a job, it's kind of a Calling. Slayers, that's what I am, we get picked for the gig by the higher powers in our world. I was fifteen when I started...I'm gonna be 22 in April, and no Slayer has ever lived to 25 that we've got a record of...my friend B, she's here, she's a Slayer too, she's older'n me but she's died a couple times, so technically...anyway, Slayers get Called young and die fast, usually. It's no easy gig."
