Having satisfied his cholesterol requirements for the day, Indy sighs happily and pushes the greasy plate to one side as he orders a refill for his coffee. Neglecting the clothing catalogs that Lorelai had forced into his hands before she left, he swivels round on his stool and leans back against the bar, resting his elbows on the counter and surveying the clientele for familiar faces.

Romana waves.

Indy flashes her a smile. "Hiya. Care to join me? The conversation coudl be as addictive as the coffee."

Indy has a charming smile so of course she sits down. "Hopefully it won't make me anymore hyper."

"Don't count on it. And the coffee probably won't help either." He chuckles at himself. "What've you been up to?"

"Mostly introducing myself to people which has lead to making friends which is wonderful. And trying to find a suitable companion for my next set of explorations."

"Let's see... you've been here almost four days. Surely Meg must have run into you by now."

"Having any luck with that companion quest?" he enquires.

Romana grins. "I met Meg yesterday. She's terrific. She was also gracious enough to dub me Fred. I'm not exactly what I'm now the knight of but I suppose it doesn't really matter."

"I'd ask Alanna, but she had a fiance and probably wouldn't have fun in space. I'd really like Ray to come with. Maybe Meg."

"Meg'd definitely go if you could get her back for her next ballet practice," he grins. "She's pretty dedicated."

"I'm not sure I've met Ray. But hey... take me for a spin one day. I'd like to see what's out there."

"I'll keep that in mind. I don't see why I wouldn't be able to though."

"Ray's very nice." Geeky too. Romana likes geeky.

"Oh certainly. You'd make a good companion too."

He scratches his head. "When you say companion... you don't mean it in the same sense as some others here, do you?"

Romana tilts her head and then looks faintly scandalized before she chuckles.

"Oh heavens no. No. I mean travelling companion or well, friend. Someone to talk to besides myself when the TARDIS breaks down. Brave in the face of danger, will correct me when I'm a mindless git. That sort of thing."

Indy puffs his chest out. "Well, I'm your man."

Romana chuckles. "Why do I have a feeling you'll end up getting me into a considerable amount of trouble when we're adventuring?"

"Trouble does seem to find me rather a lot. Just coincidence though. I'm a true professional and always takes things very seriously... with a proper plan and stuff."

He looks a bit shifty.

"I'm gonna have to run this by my girlfriend before you whisk me off though. But she knows I've been wanting to get out of here for a while. I'm sure she'll be fine."

"So long as we get out of it alive, I don't mind trouble."

She chuckles. "Yes, I imagine it would be wise to ask her first. It's best to avoid certain types of troubles. And there's no rush."

Indy looks pleased with himself. "I gotta warn you though... if this TARDIS breaks down, I'm no mechanic."

"Hey, are you gonna be around for a few more days?"

"I have the manual memorized and the chances of mine breaking down on significantly less than you might think. Or less than Ace's stories about the Doctor's type 40 might indicate."

"I can't see why I won't be. I have no real plans and this place is much better than aimlessly travelling through space."

"My roommate and I are having an informal cocktail party on Sunday night. Maybe you've met him? Mike... the giant walking ninja turtle?"

She grins. "Cocktail parties are great fun."

Then blinks. "No. I don't believe so and I sincerely hope I would remember meeting a ninja turtle."

"Oh believe me, you would," he snorts.

"So... yeah... feel free to drop by with a bottle of something. We're in room 134. Should be a blast... we've already got donations of absinthe and a rather potent apple brandy from the Mount Olympus vintage. They'll put your Pan Galactic Gargleblasters to shame."

Romana chuckles. "Is he a good room mate?"

Apple brandy that puts Pan Galactic Gargleblasters to shame? Romana would so say yes for those alone. If she wasn't already going to drop by because she likes Indy. "I'll be there. I must have a bottle of something potent on the TARDIS."

"Mike is surprisingly a very good room mate," he replies sincerely. "Boundless energy, incessant joking around and a great cook to boot. Who could ask for more?"

"And Eris might be able to sort you out with the brandy. She probably has a few others stored away."

That's very sweet. "How'd you end up becoming room mates?"

Eris. Ah. That explains the apple brandy. "I'll be sure to ask her nicely."

"Hmmm... long story. Mike has a brother, name of Raph. Now Raph is actually a human since he got transformed by magic sometime back after he first arrived here. But he was a turtle."

"Anyway, Raph is on security, dates Death and he has a tent on the roof of the bar. Magical tent with a palatial studio inside. A while back Bernard bound him to the inside of the bar for a transgression and Mike secretly moved into his tent."

He takes a breath and a sip of coffee.

"Raph won a prank war with Bernard a few weeks later and Bernard gave him his freedom again. So, upon discovering his squatter, he promptly evicted him. And not wanting him to be homeless, I let Mike crash on my floor because we are good friends."

"When Bernard found out, he upgraded our room to a nice two bedroom suite with a kitchenette and all modern convenienences."

Congratulations, Indy. That's officially stranger than anything Romana's been through with the good Doctor. (That she can recall at this moment in time and it might just be because there are two talking ninja turtles involved..)
