*Brian shoots through the door and hides behind a chair. That squirrel's AFTER him*

The puppet looks back.

Did it blink?

Nah. It must have been the light. Those button eyes are shiny.

Very shiny. They look almost . . . alive.

*Brian starts to back away slooooooowly*

His foot crunches on something.

*he looks down swiftly. But there's nothing there*

ooooooOOOOH shit.

Shouldn't have stepped there, Brian.

Now the puppet has to hunt you down.

Turn around, Brian . . . turn around . . .

*he's whimpering softly under his breath as he spins, looking for his nightmares*

There's a puppet in front of him.

It's as tall as he is.

Marjory smiles with black-thread teeth.

Marjory doesn't blink.

Like a banshee.

Blink.

*Brian flinches*

Marjory's cloth head lolls sideways again. Forward. It swings toward Brian.

The rest of Marjory follows. Like a circus tent collapsing. A circus tent with teeth.

*Brian skitters backwards, nearly falling over*

*he thinks there's a hole in the toe of his trainers*

Maybe there is.

Maybe something tiny just went through it.

*Brian curls up into the tiniest ball he has ever curled into. And rocks*

Oh, Brian. There's nothing there. It's all right. You can't feel anything in your shoe now, can you?
