"It's because I've been here for the last few days. When I go back, they'll just be starting the preparations..."

He grins slightly.

"Thanks. I like coming here."

"Charlie any better?"

"A little, I think. I ended up sleeping on the couch last night, and I haven't seen him yet this morning."

"Good, I'm glad he's feeling better. Why did you sleep on the couch?"

"He had company."

"Really? Anyone we know?"

"No idea. They hadn't appeared yet when I came down this morning."

"S'pose we'll find out if he wants us to."

"Yeah - it's not a big deal, really. If it made him feel better, good for him."

"Exactly. He's had a terrible couple of months and he deserves a bit of fun."

"Think the last couple of months have been rough on all of us, really", Liam says quietly. "But Charlie especially, you're right."

"Do you think that Bartleby will ever come back?"

Liam shrugs helplessly.

"I don't know. I honestly don't. I'd like to think so, for Charlie's sake... but it's been two months now, and no word."

"That's what I was afraid of."

He scowls and whispers quietly.

"I love Charlie dearly, really I do, but I never wanted to open Purgatory to exchange one man for another."

"You're forgetting - Bartleby's not a man. There may be more behind him not coming back than we know."
