Mike doesn't bound down the stairs today. No, instead he sedately wanders down with a rather large covered basket under his arm. It looks something like a sewing basket. He takes a seat at an out of the way table, and begins to unpack various and sundry sewing supplies.

Mike is happily humming to himself as he settles in...well, until that familar someone is watching you feeling settles with him. He doesn't remember packing that feeling in the basket. Strange. Unlike most people, Mike's first instinct is to look up.

With a scandalized look, he throws a piece of fabric over the top of his Plastron.

"Wicked woman! Trying to see down my shell!"

She smirks and drops down nimbly, if not particularly gracefully.

"I'm a bad girl, aren't I?

"Now, what the rut are you doing?"

"What's it look like I'm doing? I'm sewing. Or well, I will be sewing."

"Sewing what, exactly?"

"I think I might have to let out my tux. I've shed a couple of times since I made it, and it might not fit around the ol' shell no more.

...

I'M NOT FAT!"

"Never said you were," Mel says, innocently.

"OH but you were thinking it. I know you were!"

He winks.

"You know me so well," she smirks.

"Well, you are awful transparent."

He says with a chuckle.

"You know how to sew?"

"Nope," she says cheerfully. "Machines and glue."

"Want to learn? Very useful skill to have. Never know when you're going to need it."

"Is there a way I can not learn and still have your respect as a person?"

He thinks about this.

"Maybe?"

A suspicous look. "Will I like it?"

"Sewing?"
He shrugs.

"No idea. But you won't know unless you try."

"That's not what I..."

She sighs.

"OK, let's do it then."

In a stage whisper.

"I'm good at these games. The ones that rely on cheating or confusion to win. It's no good to fight.

Try to see the practical beyond the domestic drudgery of sewing. I mean, do you see any scars on me? Nope. Why? Because I can stitch like a mofo."

And it's true, Mike is curiously devoid of scars.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," she replies right back.

"Where's the fun in something that doesn't scar?" Mel herself has a rather inpressive scar stretching down her left cheek and top lip, which makes her smirk extra smirky.

"it's for the best."

"Hey, when you've got three identical brothers all not having scars is just another way of reminding yourself that you're not them. Well, that coupled with my being far prettier..."

She nods agreement. "I've seen the pics."

"Raph still carry it on him? He's such a marshmallow."

She nods. "It's his way of proving that he is special after all."

"Special Ed. maybe. Nah, he carried it with him back when he was a turtle too. Not on missions, mind you, even he's not that stupid."

"Family's important," she says, soberly.

Looking serious for once, he nods.

"Yeah, I just wish I could convince him to do something about it, and not just think it. We're all we've got, and he's missing it."
