Anthy is sitting at a small round table, with a cup of tea and a bowl of soup in front of her. She's knitting something small and green, slowly, and watching the rest of the bar.

A thoughtful pause. "Little gnomes -- are they made of cloth, by any chance?"

Anthy hasn't heard the finger puppets speak. She has no idea what kind of accent they have.

She smiles brightly. "Thank you. It's for an elephant -- do you know Susan?"

Scratches her head. "No. Though...you never know with leprachauns. I guess."

Considering this place, who knows? Anything's possible.

Smiles. "You're welcome."

Then blinks again. "An elephant? Well, I haven't met Susan yet but I'm very new to this place."

"Bar gave her one," Anthy explains, with a sappy smile. "A little elephant, this big. Her name is Joanie."

"Then I suppose it wasn't a leprechaun." She glances around the room, quickly, and a little nervously. The puppets lurk.

Iris grins. "Aw, that's cute." Beyond strange but very cute.

"What wasn't a leprachaun?" Iris darts a glance around the room but doesn't see anything.

"She's adorable," Anthy says, and somehow manages an ever sappier smile of fuzzy adoration.

She hesitates. "If I knew what it was, I wouldn't ask if it was a leprechaun."

Iris smiles a little hoping Anthy lets up on the sappy happiness but not really minding it. It's sort of endearing.

She frowns. "But something's been bothering you?"

"Oh. I'm Iris West, by the way."

Anthy's smile of tinyphant love flees at the thought of the finger puppets, anyway. "It wasn't really anything . . ."

Subject changes are happy! "Pleased to meet you, Iris. I'm Anthy Himemiya."

"It's probably none of my business but...if it gets serious, let me know. I'll see what I can do."

Iris takes her job as a teenage superhero seriously. Plus, it would give her something to do.

"Likewise, Anthy.

So...where are you from?"

"Of course," Anthy says agreeably. "Thank you, Iris."

She pauses. "Are you from Earth?"

"It's no trouble. You shouldn't have to be worried about weird creature-things."

Iris nods. "I was...er, am from Earth. The 21st century. I was running around Paris before I stumbled upon this place."

"Are you Bound, then?" Anthy glances down at her knitting and begins to patiently unravel something. "I go -- went -- to school in Japan. Ohtori Academy?"

Iris shrugs stiffly. "It looks like it. I mean, I can open the door but I can't go home. Home's...not there. Not sure what that means yet."

She watches Anthy unravel the yarn. "I can't say I've heard of Ohtori Academy but I've been to Japan."

"Oh? Have you been to Houou, maybe? That's where it is."

She goes back to knitting, and looks up again. "We do have sister schools. There may be one in Paris." A pause. "Have you met Meg?"

"I've ran through it once. Didn't really look around though. Back home, I was a champion. Well, a crimefighter."

Insert anything less corny than superhero here. Iris gives up on trying to sound less than ridiculous.

"Mostly I can move and fight at accelerated rates."

Iris considers this for half a second then shakes her head. "Paris I also tend to just zoom through. Well, when I'm not saving people. I haven't met anyone named Meg yet. I'd remember if I had."

With a funny smile: "A hero?"

She adds, "Meg is from Paris. She's . . . very from Paris. You probably would."

Iris facepalms. "Yeah. A hero." Too bad her brain doesn't work at accelerated levels.

She chuckles. "Very from Paris?"

"How lovely," Anthy says vaguely. A pause. "Very . . ."

Anthy doesn't do that "articulate" thing. She has a note.

"Well, she'll be glad to meet someone else from Paris," she concludes.

"Hm?"

Iris chuckles. "Oh, I'm not...well...technically I am since I was in Paris when I found a door to here. But really I'm from Kansas."

"Kansas. Oh." Anthy blinks. "Yes. I don't think she's as fond of Kansas . . . where's that?"

"Kansas is in the US. I lived--live in Keystone City."

"Keystone City . . . I don't think I've heard of it," Anthy says, after a moment. "What's Kansas like?"

"My father protects both Keystone City and Central City from various bad-guys." She shrugs. "He never believed I'd be a good hero."

"Kansas is very dull. Lots of cornfields and deranged minds."

"I'm sorry," Anthy says, automatically, and then:

"Deranged minds?"

Kansas sounds like Anthy's kind of place.

Iris shrugs again. "It's his way."

She nods. "At least in the area I live in. There's always some weirdo popping out of nowhere with a ridiculous problem who decides to cause pain and suffering for the rest of us. I keep waiting for someone to become a villain after losing his contact lense."

Which she might very well miss if she's stuck here for very long.

"Or a wooden leaf," Anthy says absently. "Sometimes little things are important to people. It's not the thing itself."
