*Meg wanders downstairs and into the bar, coffee mug in hand and tutu around her waist. And everyone subsequently dies of shock.*

Oh! *Meg perks up.* I saw a movie once. *Yes, this is a source of great pride to her.*

I'm meant to see another one but it keeps getting put off. And I saw another one that they made of my story, but the girl who plays me was all wrong. And of course still practicing - got to keep up, and all. *She grins.*

"You should see how they play ME in movies. I've been blond, for heaven's sake..."

He shakes his head with laugh. "Indeed you do."

*Meg makes a face.*

I had a chest like this. It was ridiculous, people can't dance like that! Also, scared of rats - I mean, come on, really.

Innocently, "Maybe they thought you were a Victorian Valkyrie in training, or something."

*Meg glowers at him.*

Valkyries deal fine with rats.

"Victorian ones clearly don't."

How do you know? *Meg challenges.* Have you ever met a Victorian Valkyrie?

"I'm not sure, she never said...of course, the fact she couldn't speak Latin or any British language didn't help."

*Meg looks curious.* Well, to be Victorian, you sort of have to be part of the British civilization, don't you?

"Not really, just be around sometime when that Good Queen when was alive. Victorian Paree, for example."

*Meg shakes her head.* No, 'cause see, the culture is totally different. Like, if they were African, you couldn't call them Victorian, right?

"I wouldn't, but they can be considered thus, if from an Anglo-centric perspective."

Nothing, *Meg announces, Franco-centrically,* ought to be considered from an Anglo-centric perspective.

"Except in countries that are part of the Commonwealth." He counters.

Not even then. They should be done a favor and considered from some other perspective, *Meg says cheerfully.* Because the British one just can't be flattering.

"Ah...the French one would be better?"

Mais bien sur!

"...I should have known better then to ask."

*Meg pats his shoulder kindly.* I can't expect you to understand. It's all right, you can't help it.

He raises an eyebrow.

"Because I'm British?"

Because, *Meg says cheerfully,* you're not French.

"So...would 'Ala understand?"

*Meg considers this solemnly.*

I don't know. He may have been brainwashed.

"He's still fairly French, you know."

I'd have to consult with him on the subject, *Meg says soberly,* in order to really judge.
