It's a guitarist with a baby in a booth, having tummy time.
"Oh yeah? And then what happened?"
Tiny voice speaking nonsense syllables, mostly vowels.
"You showed 'em! Tell me more."
More vowels and a little squeak.
Charlie laughs. "Aren't you clever, Peanut. And droolly. Decidedly droolly."

"You Charlie?"

He gives a grin and gestures to Kyle.
"Someone figured the little guys might get along and mentioned you. I just came in last night."

Opal City. His apartment. Everywhere that isn't here.
He puts down his breakfast and lifts Kyle out of the seat, cuddling him in his arms.
"And this here is Kyle...but mostly we call him Teddy after his grandpa."
He grins down at the baby in his arms.
"Say hi to Seth, Teddy..."

Hey, it could happen.

Jack grins.
"Talkative little bitters, aren't they?"
He quirks an eyebrow towards Seth.
"You raising him alone?"
no subject
Ignore them while they dwell on unimportant matters, Seth informs Kyle/Teddy.

And his tone says rather delicately that he'd rather she not make it here. Then he gives a small smile.
"Well, there's Mikaal and Tony, but they're not here either...and the O'Dares and hell, even the Shade, but yeah...just me and him."

"Yeah, it...wasn't so bad at home, with everybody. Mikaal and Tony were always there to babysit the little guy while I went out on patrol and the O'Dares invited us to dinner more times than I can count."
He looks down.
"Miss them already."

"I'm Starman."
A nod to the back of his jacket, then another to the star badge pinned to the side of it.
"Maybe you've heard of my dad? I'm not wearing the red and green, but it's the same thing. I left my Rod upstairs since it's a little hard to juggle with Teddy and all and I didn't feel like having it float behind me."

And his eyes narrow and shine with a collector's gleam. He shakes himself, remembering, and laughs.
"Sorry. I run a second-hand collectibles shop. Always on the lookout for people willing to sell. But, uh...you did say world, right?"
no subject
"Worlds. Yeah. You mean nobody's given you the speech yet, about the nature of Milliways?"
Seth blinks sleepily, then his eyes shut and he exhales, falling asleep instantly.

Jack blinks.
"Uh, I got the rules, things about the bar, and I've met a few people. That's about it."
He thinks.
"Oh, and, uh, I got a room."
no subject
"Well, the thing about Milliways is that it touches all possible times and all possible places. So you'll meet people you only know from stories, but they're as real as yourself. And you'll meet people from the past and the future and alternative histories. Like, my brother and I are in a band back at home--Driveshaft--" He lifts his hand a moment to show the silver DS ring--"but the more alternative an Earth is from our own, the less likely people have heard of us.
"Just as a small example."
no subject
"Got ya."
Cause he's dealt with stranger things. Like timewarps through shadow and meeting Superman's grandpa the floating head.

A grin.
"Maybe this."
And he points to the babies in turn.
