Kronos is in the bar, sitting at a table, eating buffalo wings and drinking whiskey.

He's also obviously irritable as he has spent the last hour mangling a piece of wood with one of his daggers. Not carving mind you, mangling.

There's a huge difference.

"You have something against that piece of wood?" he asks from his conveniently nearby booth.

Sardonically, "I got a splinter."

Beowulf barks at Kronos. Just because.

Van Helsing doesn't really say anything to the dog about that.

"Just one? The way you've destroyed that thing, you'd think the whole tree stabbed you in the chest."

Kronos barely even glances at the mutt, as it's beneath his notice.

"Does it really bother you that much that I'm picking on a poor defenseless piece of lumber in my oh so generous amounts of spare time?"

"Only if the lumber isn't evil."

"How is it that you tell if wood is evil or not?"

He shrugs.

"Don't know, exactly. But, since that wood is pretty much dead, doesn't matter anymore."

"Technically it was dead before I started."

He shrugs.

"Like I said, it's dead. Doesn't matter. So, what's got you all giddy and happy like a girl tonight anyway?"

Oh - watch VH get slapped for that.

Kronos just looks at him. "You really want to get into a knock down, drag out with me don't you?"

"If I wanted that, I'd've just clocked you."

"But I'm evil, isn't that what you do? Smite that which is evil?"

"Yeah, but you're already dead. That's no fun."

Kronos shrugs slightly, then goes back to mutilating the wood.

"I could stab you if you think it'll make you feel better," he offers.

Kronos barely glances at him. "Only if you want to be stabbed back."

He groans.

"Yeah, maybe after the rest of the werewolf residuals wear off. Still have muscles that haven't put themselves back where they belong yet."

He lifts an eyebrow, "does it generally take that long?"

He shrugs.

"Depends. Didn't last time. But, then again, I wasn't attacked by fourteen different people, light beer and a plate of spaghetti the last time, either."

"Light beer huh, that is pretty bad."

"That's what I was told, anyway."

"Do you believe everything people tell you?"

"Only when they tell me I was sloshed with light beer when I ask why I smell like cheap beer."

"Good point."

"So, were you ever anything you didn't want to be?"

Kronos is silent for a moment, eyes going a bit distant, then he shakes his head and growls slightly before answering, "Yes."

"Dare I ask?"

Of course he does -

"It depends on what you mean by the question. There can be more than one response, and one answer might get you killed."

"I meant, dare I ask what it is that you didn't like being. So far, about 90% of the bar is fairly aware that I'm not overly fond of growing into a 7-foot furry beast."

"Once upon a time I spent centuries stuck in a small hole, a demon to the monks who fed me. That wasn't exactly my favorite period of life."

He could also say that if there was one thing that he never wanted to be, it was in love, but that's not something he's going to ever utter to anyone. A secret that he carried to his grave, and one he will continue to carry after.

"That doesn't sound overly pleasant."

"It wasn't, and it was the closest thing to a slave that I ever wanted to become."

He tilts his head... so does Beowulf, actually.

"What did you do in there?" He'd say 'down in the hole', but that might get him thrown into the wall - he has tact. Really.

"Plotted."

For some reason, that makes him grin. Maybe because it's Kronos, maybe because he might've done the same thing.

"How many people did you kill when you got out?"

"All the monks who were sowrn to my care and pretty much anyone else who crossed my path for the first several weeks. I lost count after a while."

"Remind me never to ask you that question again."

"I doubt that I will need to remind you."

"Probably not."

Kronos gets to his feet, then tosses the remains of the wood and his dinner in the trash. "I'm going to bed."
