A skinny figure, dressed in the most effeminate military uniform jacket ever seen outside of anime, shoulders open the door of the bar and stops short, blinking owlishly.

Polly happens to hear something about body-switching (http://www.livejournal.com/community/milliways_bar/395854.html?thread=12705102#t12705102), and mutters, "I think Plotz has changed since I was last here..."

Hello! My you're a cute one. What do you play? I bet it's a... tuba?

Polly blinks, taken aback.

"A...tuba? Why would I...?"

Well, you have that manly physique, it would work well for you. You need to be able to hold a tuba and not get too winded. It's hard work!

Polly raises an eyebrow. "I am a soldier, not a musician."

Ah, but deep down everyone has a soul for music. You just have to unleash it! ...But maybe a flute is more appropriate. A bugle?

She glares. "Good way to announce your position to the enemy, music."

Why fight when you can jam?

Polly wonders if this person is, perhaps, very stupid. "So you don't get killed."

But music can bring love from your enemy. Or if you want *snaps his fingers and brings out a flute*, it can signal the troops. It all dependfs how you use this! *pushes it into your hands*

Polly looks suspiciously at the flute and is about to reply, when she is startled by an explosion (http://www.livejournal.com/community/milliways_bar/396981.html). She looks round.

"Exploding food?" Her eyes scan the room. Are Lofty and Tonker here somewhere?

*looks as well* I don't know, who are Lofty and Tonker? Are they part of your band?

"They were in my regiment, when I first joined up."

Polly returns the flute. "Don't need this, though. We've got the clacks for signals, now that Nuggan's dead."

What happened to 'Nuggan'? I don't remember him on my list at anytime. What did he play?

Polly laughs. "Don't know that he played anything. Nuggan was our - Borogravia's - god. But he died."

Gods do that, sometimes. Music is forever though! I've been around since the first baby sang the first beautiful note. How long did Nuggan last? Were there songs written about him?

"Well, there are songs written about everything, aren't there? I don't know how long Nuggan lasted - I'm beginning to suspect he was dead before I was born, if the Abominations are anything to judge by."

Very true. I hope he wasn't dead though, singing about the dead is far too sad. Music is better happy.

Polly scowls. "Nuggan didn't make a lot of people - well, I know he made my brother unhappy, for sure." She pauses. "Although, if I'm right, that was just...echoes."

Echoes of unhappiness or echoes of your brother?

"Echoes of Nuggan. His book - "

Polly shakes her head and finishes her pint (http://www.livejournal.com/community/milliways_bar/396981.html).

"The Book of Nuggan, which was mostly Abominations, had blank pages at the back because it was continually filling up. After he died, the echoes kept coming."

*is becoming slightly hysterical; turns to the bar and isn't even polite to it*

*takes a moment, ludicrously, to wonder whose tab it will chalk that up to before remembering that there are bigger issues at hand*

What caused this, and how do I make it stop?

I'm not sure. There was that explosion, maybe some chemicals went off? But don't be sad. Anytime I'm sad, I just jump into a song. Go on, try it! Remember, you're a B Natural.

*overhears a snippet of the conversation from the middle of the bar, and hurries over to join it in hopes of GETTING HIS OWN BODY BACK ARRGH; he is a bit clumsy, since he's used to having longer legs than these*
