Ace inna bar! She's fiddling about with one of her beloved timers. See the tiny pretty tools, and the sparkly electronics! Whee.
She's also making quite a mess. Who knew a couple of timers and a few small tools could get spread over an entire table, and still look all heaped up? Amazing.

"Having fun?" Sara appears, sans cocoa this time. No need to get the electronics wet.

"Entirely too much. Sit down, take a load off." Ace grins. Sara may notice the sparkly on her hand. Maybe. Hee.

"Nice ring." She sits down with a grin.

"He even put in nitro, for emergencies." You know, most people wouldn't be so happy about being given an explosive ring. Most people aren't Ace.

Sara cracks up. "Ace, I think you have a keeper in Tim! He obviously knows you so well."

No, most people aren't Ace. But hey, whatever floats her boat.

"He does. He's wonderful." And no, she's not the least bit biased. At all. She beams sillily at the timer in her hands for a bit, wondering how she ever got to be so lucky.

She smiles softly. "Congratulations, Ace." She's truly happy for her friend.

"Have you guys decided when the wedding will be?"

"After all of this." She indicates the whole situation with a wave of her hand. "So we can celebrate without worrying about the git. It won't be a fancy affair - neither of us are inclined towards glitz, and I've seen quite enough frantic brides around here to never want to join their ranks."

"Sounds reasonable, both parts," Sara says with a nod.

Sara is almost immune to the frantic-bride look. Vegas gets a thousand of them a day.

"Reasonable is good. Means we can stay moderately sane, and not be ready to kill each other by the end of it." she nods, definite.

She snorts. "Isn't that the truth. We actually had to investigate a murder at a wedding chapel. Apparently, a man tried to marry his girlfriend, and her husband had a problem with that."

Only in Vegas.

Ace shakes her head.
"Confused, wasn't she?" Honestly. Why invite that sort of trouble? "Catch the guy alright?"

"Yeah, an open and shut case. The woman is now in a psychiatric institution, the last I heard."

Despite that, Sara is smiling, almost sappily. It's a good guess to think she's thinking of Barry.

Ace notices the sappy smile, and doesn't think it can be contributed to an easy case. Good thing she has another option in mind.
"So, how's it going with Barry?"

"Wonderfully. He...he understands me. Probably better than anyone I have ever known. I think I have laughed more here, because of him, than I have at any other time."

Love is an unfamiliar sensation for Sara, but she is enjoying it.

They say misery loves company. Love loves company more.
"That's grand, Sara. You know, I could always clue him in for you... a couple of hints, maybe a subtle blugeoning over the head with the facts?" Ace grins cheekily.

"NO!" While appreciating the offer, Sara does not want Barry to feel overwhelmed.

"Things are fine as they are."

Jonathan comes in from outside, carrying a small bag that Ace may recognize.

She does. She doesn't say anything though... doesn't want to nag. She never liked it when people nagged her, so she does her best to avoid doing the same. She is curious, however. It's a permanent sort of condition.

He spots her and heads over.

"Finished. Or as much as it's going to be."

"Finished?" She blinks, before an estatic grin takes over. "You did it?! That's fantastic!"

He nods proudly. "Done, and tested every way I could think of. The shield spell holds until they hit their target - Esk made a target for me and I shot fireworks at it with the ball bearings in. And they neutralize Esk's magic, we checked, so it's not just magic from my world."

"Any special handling considerations?" She'd rather not get her hand taken off for no good reason, after all.
Well... not even for a good reason. There's always alternatives.
She might be bouncing in her seat. A little. She's excited, bear with her.

"They won't explode on their own", he reassures her with a grin. "All I've done is put on the magic blocker, and a little extra so they won't melt when your bomb goes off."

"Brilliant! Jonathan, you're an absolute genius." He gets attacked with a brief Ace-hug before she reaches over and taps the bar.
"Love? Jonathan's expenses go to me for the week, alright? Ta."

Jonathan blushes, despite his best efforts. "Hey, it gave me an excuse to play with magic. Why would I say no to that?"

"Some people would have." Ace replies seriously. "Otherwise we'd all be living in a perfect world, and not having this conversation in the first place."

"Well. Yeah."

Ace digs through the bag, since she's been assured the contents won't attempt to kill her. Pulling out one ball bearing, she examines it. Looks normal to her, but she knows she's utterly out of her league when it comes to magic.
"This'll sort him." She grins, ferally.

Jonathan grins back. "Should do, yeah. The effects last about fifteen minutes, I think. Maybe twenty."

"Long enough to get a couple good shots in." Things are decidedly looking up in Ace-world.

"Should be, yeah." He's pleased.
