Out by the lake: Elaine's sword lesson

*Alanna stands by the lake, humming and examining a set of throwing knives. Elaine's next sword lesson is scheduled to start soon, and Alanna keeps an eye on the bar door in the hopes that George, Svava and Archie put in an appearance as well.*

"Different from Florence?" That's been the only city she's really ever seen.

"Never been to Florence, but I think so. Not as old, anyway."

"Not founded by... romans, was it?" Another mental note to try to get an atlas of some sort from the bar.

"No, America came a very long time after Rome. Not sure exactly, but a very long time. I think New York was settled by the Dutch or something."

"... Remind me to ask the Bar to get a history book or something of the sort from your world, after this?"

A brief pull-back, studying something, then back into the fray.

"Things always keep sounding more complicated the more I hear about it."

"Sure. It is complicated, I don't know very much at all, myself. History was never a subject I liked, when I went to school."

"It's 2003 where I'm from," Faith says. "So, more than that, I bet."

"Two thousand seems to be the rough time for a lot of people here, so I just use that for estimating." She's been keeping track of years and dates. Its been interesting.

"Meg's from 1890 I think." Faith grins. "She took me to her Paris. It was pretty cool."

"That's something I'll have to ask her about too." A grin, and nod.

"Then- Archie's from eighteen oh two. I can't think of any others from the eighteens, at least right now."

"I think we have a pirate from then. Not sure."

"Jack?" Svava grins. "That's right- they talked, he's from earlier. Not sure how much ealier, but Archie had heard of him."

"He may be from 17 something instead then. Dunno. I just know, pirate."

"Anything well before eighteen hundred. I'll have to ask him. Shouldn't be too hard, his home sounds like a lovely place."
