Hagrid is in the gardens, wand in hand, coaxing his sprouting pumpkin seedlings to grow into mature plants, one by one.

He saw a sign before coming out about circuses, and wonders what it is. Maybe he'll stick around to find out...

Come and keep him company while he works.

Never having seen a hippogriff, Chase just nods. "I don't have any right now," he says. "I don't like cats and I'm allergic to dogs. I had a pet rat for a little while when I was a kid."

He remembers the rat fondly. He wouldn't mind having another one. "No magical pets, though," he says, remembering who he's talking to.

"I don' much care fer cats, either," Hagrid nods. "Make me sneeze. 'Ve got a dog, though - a boar hound - an I miss 'im now I'm here without 'im. Rats're a popular wizardin' pet, though I think ours are little more magical than the kind you had."

There's no use in mentioning that Rats remind him of one of the biggest traitors in the wizarding world. It's kind of insulting to rats.

"I've always wished I wasn't allergic to dogs. I mean, I like them. I just can't breathe around them."

Chase vaguely remembers something bad in the third book having to do with rats, and wonders if he shouldn't have mentioned them. "What's your boar hound's name?"

"Fang," Hgarid says. "Bit o' a joke, really. He's a big coward - but faithl as the day is long. "Bout the on'y dog I know big enough ter keep up wi' me."
