Sitting at the bar with a notebook and pen is a rather familiar sight. Valentine is avoiding the party, not out of a lack of love for Tim, but a desire for a bit of peace and quiet. She has her tray, and every so often scans the bar for people in need of assistance, but she is most definitely working on something in the aforementioned notebook. Come bug her. Or flag down a waitress. Either works.

Tim's back. *She grins.*

Why was that odd? It never used to be odd.
*She frowns.* Are you alright?

*She shuffles her feet, finally pulling her knees up and resting her chin on them.*
Peter left last night.

She blinks for a moment. "Peter left? Where'd he go? And why?" And why the frell didn't he say something to me?

He went home. *Alanna shrugs helplessly.* He has things to do, a life to lead. He'll remember this time, I've faith. He'll remember, but he might just realize that he should stay there.
*She bites her lip.* If it's the will of the gods, who am I to argue?
I guess what I'm asking is would you like to go grab a sheet and have a drink?

Right. *She pulls a plain white sheet out of her bag and grins.* What does one do?

This is... interesting. *She grabs another bottle of wine from the bar and watches Val arrange her sheet.* Did he really?
*Alanna bites her lip before she stupidly asks what else he liked to play. She knows, and at least some of his games weren't particularly pleasant.*

"I'm quite new here still, but for a variety of reasons prefer this place to the one I now belong to, and one of the patrons," he waves a hand vaguely around the bar, "suggested to me that I earn my keep, as it were, and I find I would prefer it to sitting around doing nothing. I am skilled in sword-fighting, archery, hand-to-hand combat, and diplomacy. The lady I talked to," he nods in the general direction of Meg, "suggested security."

He turns to head towards a seat, but not without giving Val a shy, slightly crooked grin that suddenly makes him look quite a bit younger.
