Naming Ceremony- Reception

Some food and drink for the reception has been set up on the lawn
furniture in the garden. There are punch bowls full with sweet, fruity
liquid that's not too strong, as befits a party in honour of a child;
there is cake, sweet and light and with an overall theme of early
summer berries; there are plates, and colourful paper napkins on the
table that has the food.

All the parasols in the tables are open, and have been festooned with
colourful fairy lights; there is music playing softly from somewhere -
probably Charlie's iPod hooked up to some speakers.

When the fairy lights are lit, the reception begins, and people drift
up from the lake end of the garden where the ceremony was to eat,
drink, congratulate and socialise.

Tony, of course, wants more coffee, but fruit punch is all right with him! He does, however, stare at it questioningly, as if waiting for someone to explain what's exactly *in* that fruity liquid.

Claire approaches carrying baby Seth. She smiels at Tony's obvious wariness. "I think it's safe."

Claire and baby wander over. "So it looks like you're an official uncle now," she smiles.

There's an Ace. If she'd had more warning, there'd be fireworks too, but she's not a miracle worker.

She'll introduce Seth to explosives a little later, is all.

She eyes the punch warily, and takes some cake instead. She isn't sure if Indy had anything to do with the punch-making, and decides safe is much better than sorry.

Claire wanders over holding a very squirmy Seth.

Seth's hand flails at Ace again. Hold me, hold me Ace-love.

Asar-Suti comes up to the reception area.

When there is a lull in the rush, he manages to get himself two glasses of strawberry punch (which does pack a punch, being made with a whole bottle of vodka!) and two pieces of cake, strawberry as well.

With that, he waits for Gil.

"Thank you for doing all this for us, Asar-suti. It was beautiful."

Charlie has a drink in his hand, and holds it carefully when he hugs Asar-Suti. "Thank you. It was fantastic."

Gil sees Sooty talking to Claire and Charlie and the baby so hangs back to give them their privacy.

When he can he moves across and says, "Very well done, Sooty. super ceremony. Told you there was nothing to worry about, didn't I."

Michael is still sitting cross-legged on the grass, putting the finishing touches to his drawing.

Claire wanders over without the baby at some point and kneels down beside him. "Thank you for coming, Michael."

Charlie wanders about, still beaming proudly.

Claire approaches him and kisses his cheek. "I'm glad I know you, Charlie."

Gil inspects the layout with interest, wondering who did it and smiling at the prospect of, for once, eating something he hasn't had to cook himself.

It all looks absolutely sumptuous - probably Yamino's doing - but no less than the family deserves.

He decides to give himself five more minutes before he goes back to the kitchen.

*Snow and the kids are there. Millie and Wade are rushing around, Millie in wolf form and Wade up above. They've learned not to get in people's way, after living around the bar for so long, so they aren't too much of a nusience. Snow's largely keeping an eye on them, but will likely head over to congratulate Clare sometime that the mun isn't rushed*

Claire smiles as she approaches and hugs her friend. "Thank you for coming!"

Sawyer sits having pretty much not spoken since the ceremony. His is an expression of thoughfulness.

Claire and Seth approach her with a smile. "Hey Jaina, I'd like you to meet my son. This is Seth."

Hurley takes a glass of punch, which isn't bad, and some cake, nice and frutty, and looks around for any familiar faces.

"Hey Hurley!" Claire hugs him. "Thank you for coming."

The Mayhews are also at the reception. Now that the typist has found food and brains.

Richard walks over to them as Amadeo makes a bottle for Joshua.

"Gorgeous ceremony. Looks like our Seth will start with all the best."

He beams at them.

"Thank you, Richard." Claire hugs him tightly with one arm. "And thank you again for agreeing to be Seth's godparents."

Ron approaches Claire, rubbing self-consciously at his arm.

"Hullo." He cracked a grin. "Bet he's a happy little monkey to get all this attention."

The slayer sparring now concluded, Indy finds the naming reception happening around him (http://www.livejournal.com/community/milliways_bar/4715634.html?thread=192678770#t192678770) as he relaxes at his and Mike's little picnic area. He's a little bemused by it all, but he has a cooler full of beer and a patio chair, so everything is fine really.

It's a busy Saturday outside, and he just sits back and let's it all happen.

And Barry is quietly in the mix, too, getting a drink, and happy for the whole family, even if he thinks that Set James Littleton-Pace sounds awfully upper-crust. Not that he'll say that out loud, of course.
