Michelle takes a sip of her coffee and looks at her notepad. She's still trying to figure out the timeline of upcoming events. She's also writing out a list of things that need to be accomplished.

She gets up to order something to eat when she sees a notice. When she gets back to her table she writes down "contact Peter about therapy" on her to do list.

She puts down the pen and takes another sip of coffee. She might like some company.

Hurley sits down near the woman who looked like she could use some company.

"Hey," he said.

Michelle smiles at him a little, "Hi," she greets him.

"I'm Hurley," he extended his hand, "California 2004, but have recently been stranded on an island."

Michelle shakes his hand, "Nice to meet you Hurley, I'm Michelle." She smiles, "Are you from the same island as Claire?"

"Yes," replied Hurley, "so where are you from?"

"California, 2010. A few years afer you."

"Ah, I think I met someone else from California 2010 month or two ago, some dude named Tony."

Michelle smiles again, "I know Tony."

"He was one of the first people I met when I got here. I chatted with him briefly, however I haven't had a chance to speak to him again. He seemed like a cool guy. So do you also work for the government?"

She nods, "Most of the people from my place here worked for the government in one form or another. What did you do back in California?"

Hurley was not sure how to respond, "Uh, I was in uh, management and some other things. So how long have you been here for? I've been back and forth from the island for about a month, haven't really had much of a chance to socialize though."

"I kind of work in management." Michelle takes a sip of her coffee. "I've been here about...a little over a month I think. It's hard to keep track of time."

"Totally agree. Everytime I go back to the Island, the amount of time that went by there is different from the time which passed here. It is really weird."

"How much time usually passes?"

"It varies, sometimes it is a few days, sometimes it is a few months. When I first came here Claire's baby was at least a month old, while back on the island she was still pregnant."

"Did you say a few months? You mean a few months here or where you're from?"

"Time seems to pass faster here than on the island." he changed to the subject, "have you been back to your version of California?"

She shakes her head a little, "No, Tony's able to go back and forth although he's a month behind me."

"Ah, so not everyone is in the same time frame where you come from either."

"No, we're all from the same basic two year period -- well, except for Chloe."

"Ah, haven't met Chloe yet."

"She's from 2013. Assuming she's also from the same universe."

"Ah, so she is from a few years into the future. That isn't so bad," he paused. "I met a chick yesterday who has been seeing dead relatives, and versions of her folks from before she was born."

"I've met some dead people here, myself. It takes a while to get used to."

"It does. Have you met anyone you know is dead yet?"

She nods, "Ryan, who's from my world had been dead a while when I saw him here. And Teri, who left but she was the wife of a friend who had been dead for years."

"Must have been hard seeing them. I've actually been afraid of going back to the island and seeing what has happened to the versions of the people there. I'm worried that if I go back, I'll find that one of my friends is dead."

"It was more surprising than anything else. I'd never met Teri before and Ryan was kind of my boss."

She nods, "I know what you mean."

"Did you socialize with Ryan, have a chance to like tell him things you never had a chance to? From what I have seen people tend to avoid dead friends and relative they see here."

"Really? That's interesting. I talk to Ryan, I know that my friend and his wife spent a lot of time together when she was here."

"That is good, that they got to spend a lot of time together."

"I just keep thinking that if I see someone I know from before certain events took place in my life if it would be possible to warn them."

She tilts her head, "Warn them?"

"See if I can change the past. There was something I did which I would like to, uh," he paused "undo."

She nods in understanding, "I'm currently trying to change the future. What happened?"

"It is complicated," he paused not sure if he should be explaining this to someone who wasn't magical, "I won the lottery but was cursed afterwards."

Oh, like that episode of X-Files

"So you want to go back so you don't win?"

"Yes, so that things would just be normal, the way they were."

"I'm not sure that actual time travel's possible here."

"Oh, why is that?"

She thinks for a moment, "I don't know. I just don't know anyone that's personally time travelled myself."
