Suti tries to be comforting; PeeJee fangirls in the Joker's general direction

Writing hasn't helped.

Drinking hasn't helped, more's the pity.

Working hasn't helped. Watching ChooChoo Bear frighten the irritating hasn't helped.

So PeeJee is back at Milliways, this time with a potted plant. She'll watch for Kitt again tonight, and if he's still gone... well, she'll have something to leave for him. But first, to the Bar. "Bar, can you give me... a card and one of those florist's card-holder pitchfork things?"

During the pause left where someone with a voice would have raised an eyebrow and asked if that was a technical term, PeeJee notices a notice.

The requested items appear. "Thanks," PeeJee says, still looking at the note, thoughtful.

"Helly PeeJee - what are you planning to do with the fern?"

Asar-Suti staaaaares at her.

"Oh, I'm fine," Asar-Suti says. "Have you heard of Kitt, then?"

Tact? What tact?

"I am sorry to hear that," Asar-Suti says, looking at her sadly.

He remembers Charlie waiting for Bartleby, and imagines PeeJee must feel similar.

"Can I get you a drink? Ice cream? A lewd movie? Anything to help you take your mind off fretting? Because really, there's nothing we can do now."

"I read about that hypothetical they have in Earth philosophy - I read about it," Asar-Suti ventures. "I think the whole affair is at that stage, and none of us can open the box. So, while you wait, I can at least help you with it by providing distraction, as there is nothing else."

He gently puts his arm around her for a moment to signal emotional support despite his matter-of-fact attitude, and then steps back with a smile. "So, what can I conjure for you?"

Asar-Suti smiles at being called 'sweetie', imagining the Cheysuli who gave him giref the day before yesterday could hear the 'foul, fetid, noxious' god of the Ihlini being called 'sweetie'.

"Are you here with the intention to sit here and fret on purpose?" he then akss, looking innocent.

That is something that often happens to Asar-Suti as well - missing people coming and going, especially when it's most important. When Bartleby took the three people Asar-Suti loved most with him to hell, the purple god never knew until afterwards when he had to deal with the aftermath.

"So, you intend to stare at the door until he walks through it?" Asar-Suti asks. It doesn't sound like a very brilliant plan to him.

"So you need friends to sit and chat while you wait, so you don't get bored or start imagining unpleasant things?" Asar-Suti asks, volunteering at the same time.

"Reading is good in such cases - can I get you a book, then?"

Asar-Suti seems determined to be helpful in some way.

Asar-Suti goggles slightly about the titled.

"I am sure that is not about African wildlife," he says.

"Detective agency? Like, in a murder mystery? I've been reading a murder mystery as well - it's very fascinating!"

Asar-Suti smiles at her with a little shrug - there are still things that are new to the purple god.

"Oh, those are sometimes the best ones," Asar-Suti says. "You can't always find what you look for, but sometimes you find things you weren't looking for instead. Bookshops are wonderful for that."

Asar-Suti loves bookshops.

"What's a bulk club?" Asar-Suti asks. He's never heard of such a thing.

Nor has his mun, actually.

[identity profile] asar-suti.livejournal.com 2005-05-08 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sounds very much like a good place for finding things you weren't looking for," Asar-Suti says. "Things will just come random there, I suppose, whatever they could get in bulk?"

"What are cheerios?" Asar-Suti asks again. Modern Earth life is full of mysteries.

Yay for anything Latin coming ut Old Speech for Asar-Suti, through the translation charms in effect here.

"Grains? Corn?" he ventures, trying to make sense of what his brain gives him.

"Telly ou what - when you've read it, can I read it as well? I think I like detective mysteries. But I really have to go now; Gil's coming off his shift soon and ---"

A slight purple blush, and then the purple god of magic gives the purple-haired girl a brief hug, and scampers off.

[[OOC: Because his mun must work early tomorrow, and sleep now, woe! See you around.]]
