There is a Max approaching the clearing. While she's more familiar with the city, she's not unaccustomed to moving through the forest. And the full moon makes it bright as day.
She moves silently, or as close to it as a physical creature can come. Doesn't do a thing to mask scent, though.
She comes through the edge of the trees, and sees the wolf lying in the clearing. She hesitates for a moment, not frightened, simply realizing that it's best to be cautious while approaching a predator.
"Jason?" She speaks very softly. Wouldn't do to be harassing the wrong wolf.
Human...you need to run. Wait...not human... Jason sniffs gingerly at the woman. He knows her...doesn't he? He stops snarling, but keeps a low questioning growl.
Max approaches slowly, carefully. She can't help but drop to a slightly more defensive stance as she does so - if he lunges, she doesn't want to be unbalanced.
"You are Jason, aren't you? You asked me to come here, remember?" She keeps her voice quiet, soothing. There's no fear, just wariness, and a bit of concern.
Max stops about two feet away from him, and drops into a crouch. She studies him intently, brow furrowed slightly in concern. "You're a mess. What happened?" She extends a hand carefully towards him.
Jason tilts and lowers his head to lick her hand. Another deep whine. ""Shit Max, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get so cut up."" Two large green wolf eyes stare into hers.
Max drops forward onto her knees, which brings her closer to the wolf. "Get jumped by a mountain lion or something?" She's not entirely sure if he can understand her, but she keeps talking anyway. "You look pretty banged up. Let me take a look...got a bit of med training in here somewhere."
She doesn't understand the growl. "Hey, I'm not going to hurt you. And sit back down...you look like you're about to collapse." There's a faint note of command threading its way into her voice. She doesn't like seeing her friends hurt...makes her edgy.
Max sighs, feeling mildly frustrated. "I'm sorry...I don't know what you want from me." She reaches up to place a hand firmly on his back. "And don't do that, you'll hurt yourself."
He growls in frustration. Taking his head he tried to nudge her to the ground. A snort. ""Sit down will you?! You can't help me unless I shift."" Pointless to rant though, she obviously didn't understand, but it made him feel better to say it.
She's kneeling already, as good as sitting, in her opinion. So the nudging is just confusing. Still, he seems not to be bolting, so she reaches up to probe at the injuries with her free hand, the other one still pressed against his back.
"Wimp." She might be teasing. Just a little. She sits back on her heels, eyeing the spot where he disappeared into the brush. She's listening carefully. If he's bolting, she'll need a way to track him.
Jason limps until he's out of sight. He'd go farther to be out of hearing range, but it's too hard to walk. He takes a deep breath and starts his Change. All that can be heard is the popping and snapping of bones and muscle as the snap back into place, and Jason's labored breathing.
Max winces a little at the sounds. But she remains where she is, at least for the moment. She's not sure if the sounds are normal, and doesn't want to disturb him if they are.
Jason lies on the ground in silence for a few moments, breathing heavily. He starts to sit up and groans. At least he can stand now. He heads back towards the clearing, still out of sight. He stops behind a thick hedge. "Max?" he calls softly.
He grimaces to himself. He didn't want to ask, but didn't want her to feel uncomfortable. Get ready for a taste of your own medicine, Jason he thought. "Max, can you hand me my clothes?"

Jason starts, teeth bared. He is in no condition to fight; it's best to try intimidation.
""Back off.""

She keeps her body language as non-threatening as possible. Which, given it's Max, isn't terribly. Still, she's trying.

"How badly are you hurt?" she asks absently. "Maybe you should get patched up first."
