Two Slayers, in fact.

One of them looking quite happy.

"Charlie's home!" says Faith, by way of greeting.

"Great!" Mel replies, beaming. "What happened to the younger?"

Faith shrugs. "Dunno. Guess he left and the adult came back. But he's back, they're all back, perfectly safe."

Faith is also beaming.

"Good to know.

"Any idea what happened?"

Faith shakes her head. "Nah, I didn't ask. He was soaking wet and I was drunk. It seemed a bad time for small talk."

"You were drunk?"

Faith nods. "Yeah, it happens now and then."

Mel grins.

"Yeah, to me too, occasionally."

Liek when she's had three bottles of Tequila.

"People kept lecturing me on it." Faith pouts. "Like I'm not an adult and a Slayer. Tim even asked me if I was on duty! Like I would do that."

"Maybe 'cause they're not used to seeing you drunk?"

Mel shrugs. "When someone you think of as sober gets drunk all of a sudden it can be worrying."

"Yeah. Maybe." Faith shrugs too. "Anyway, it's not gonna happen often. My mother...it's not gonna happen often."

"Right," Mel nods, briefly, because she recognises the look.

"But once or twice is fine."

"You're sharing, right?" Look, it's an Ace.

She brought root beer.

Because root beer and pizza just go together.

And because after Faith's demonstration last night, Ace is never going to get drunk again.

"I always share," and she does.

"How's things?"

"Things... are good, actually. Went to London for a bit yesterday, had fun running around there." She replies, grinning, before digging into the pizza.

"Oh yeah? What's London like now?" Mel's only seen it the once, after all.

"Well, for a given value of 'now'... pretty normal. Lots of jumbled together architecture, lots of big red buses, lots of tourists. The underground's nifty." London in an Ace-summary. Scary, no?

"The underground...

"...ooh, the Subway? That's still running in your time?"

Ace blinks.

"It stops at some point?" Guess that answers that question. "Yeah, it's running... little slow on the central line, but everything else was good."

"Rocketship," Mel says. If London has a subway whenever Ace was, maybe Mikey's New York has one, and then she can go see it...

"Sounds jake. I'm glad you had a good time."

"Yeah, I get jittery if I stay cooped up in one place too long, especially somewhere as small as here. You're welcome to come along sometime, if you want." Hey more=merrier.

"Love to," Mel jumps at the chance. "I feel like I'm going mad trapped in here."

"Well, we can't have that. And if you thought Las Vegas was clean, you're not going to be able to stand London. Now that the soot and all is off St. Paul's and Buckingham, the place is gleaming." Ace was particularly impressed by that. She hasn't seen it that shiney since... well... when it was built. Of course the Doctor took her to see that. Entirely by accident, of course.

"No, clean is good," Mel says. "It just takes me by surprise when I go to the twenty first century. Everything is clean. And the sky!"

She loves the sky.

Ace blinks.
"S'not what the enviromentalists have been babbling on about, but I'll take your word for it."

"Well, you should see it in my time," Mel says. "We can't even see the stars. Avoid the sun when we can. It's a thing."

"That sounds horrid." Ace wrinkles her nose.

Mel shrugs. "Y'get usedta it.

"Besides: Flying cars."

Yes, Mel's city has one thing going for it, but she thinks it's a pretty cool thing.
