*Jane comes down the stairs, humming cheerfully to herself, and goes over to the bar. When she orders her cup of tea, she also asks for a book. Hmm... The Blue Sword... sounds interesting.*

*She makes her way over to a table and sits down to read. Distractions are welcome, of course.*

Tea, always a good selection. I'd drink it more often, but it puts me to sleep in a second's time.

*he smiles*

What are you reading?

*Jane blinks at him, looking up from her book and smiling politely.*

*She holds out the book for him to see.* It's a book called The Blue Sword. The teaser on the back sounded interesting, and I need something to do, so... reading it.

Ah...is reading a hobby or just a desperate measure in times of boredom?

*she laughs* Oh, definitely both. I read as a hobby, and for when I have nothing else to do. I just ran out of things to read, and the bar gave me this.

*smiling* I'm Jane Drew.

I'm Brian, but everyone just calls me Gamble. Nice to meet you.

I'm picky about my books.

*he smiles*

Where are you from?

*politely* Pleased to meet you, Gamble. *she smiles* I'll read just about anything. It's all fascinating, really.

I'm from London, myself. Where are you from?

Los Angeles, CA in the US...or at least I was from LA.

*he smiles*

*She sips her tea.* People come here from all over, I've found. I don't know if I can still be surprised, after being here so long.

Yeah...but see that's not exactly what I meant. I don't know if I can still say I'm from LA considering....I'm dead.

*he says with an unsure look on his face*

*She shrugs lightly.* Death doesn't change where you came from. It is not like... someone born in, say, Istanbul dies and is suddenly from New York.

*he laughs*

You've got a point there. So, how'd you get here?

*She smiles.* I was having an argument with my brother. He was being childish, and so I went into my room and slammed the door.

*shrugging wryly* Only, it was a bar instead of my bedroom.

*he smiles*

Wow...at least your entrance wasn't as painful as mine. I had neck pains for two days.

So, how old are you?...if you don't mind me asking.

*She looks at him, raising her eyebrows quizzically.* Neck pains?

Oh, I'll be sixteen in a couple of months.

I died when someone snapped my neck. It was a pain.

So anyway, sixteen...I remember when I was sixteen. I was crazy, a rebel. You should be out enjoying your youth.

*he smiles*

*She frowns.* Ouch, I'm sorry. *What does one say in a situation like this?* Was it quick?

*At his smile, her's fades.* Oh, I'm Bound. I can't leave.

It was quick...but it still hurt.

Sorry for mentioning it..You can still have fun in here. Like right now. I know conversation is fun for me escially with a nice person such as yourself.

*he smiles*

*She smiles and looks down into her teacup as she takes a sip.*

I just try to be polite, though it is fun, getting to know new people.

*She tilts her head slightly, smiling.* You said you were picky about books. What interests you?

Well, I like adventure, mystery, classics, history, and sometimes a love story.

I was a police officer for seven years so I like justice and crime as well.

*he smiles*

*She laughs.* And I thought you were picky. I like all of those.

*Jane looks down at the book in her hands.* This seems like an adventure-love story, to me.

Well, when you're done with it..I'll take it. I didn't know you could get books from the bar.

Do you have any other hobbies?

*She smiles.* Oh, the bar can get you just about anything, as far as I have seen.

And, as for hobbies, I write some, and I draw; I'm up for anything, really.

I write a lot. Mostly poems and short stories. But I have no drawing skills what so ever.

*he yawns*

Well, its truly been a pleasure, Jane. But I think my caffeine buzz is wearing off and I'd rather not expose you to my half-asleep escapades.
