Here comes a'blowin' a hurricane of angst!
[ Pre-Milliways: Audrey leaves CTU. Spoilers for season 4 of "24". ]
In the beginning, there was angst. The angst’s name was Tony Almeida. He was an angry man, a bitter man, a man who was pissed off at the world for all the injustices it forced him to bear. He angsted alone until a dear friend arrived: Kim Bauer. And the angst doubled.
For a moment it appeared as if the angst would not become any angstier. But then, Jack Bauer came to Milliways. And the angst multiplied by the hundreds.
It could not be equalized, save for the angsty antics of his friend, Tony, and his daughter, Kim. When his dead boss, Ryan Chappelle, arrived, the angst simply became worse and did not seem to stop, even through a disasterous "family dinner," the arrival of Christine Chappelle, the botched love affair that was Tony/Kim, Tony's subsiquent suicide attempt, and a list of other things that, if mentioned here, would turn this entry post into a dissertation.
The angst never really disappeared; it simply subsided into breif periods of "happiness," which, true to canon, must be punctured by more angst. This is why Erin Driscoll returned to blow a nice angst-sized hole in Jack's contendedness over his daughter's recover.
However, neither he nor anyone in the "24" contigent is ready to deal with the black hole of angst that steps through the front door of Milliways with a rather lost look on her face. It is not the parking lot, it is not a bar she particularly wants to be in. It's Milliways Bar--the bar she remembers being in some time ago with certain individuals she would rather not want to see now. Audrey turns to leave, but only faces a wall. Making a frustrated cry, she heads to the bar, orders something hard and finds a corner to hide and wibble in.
Audrey Raines has returned to Milliways, liek woe.
