House inna bar. ~~For the next ten days, he'll likely be nursin his Vicodin addiction alone in his room due to mun away-ness.~~

He's taken a Vicodin or two to dull the pain in ihs leg to an annoying ache. He's tried to convince himself it's because he's been on the ground a lot. With Jasin, with Behrooz.

He's reading a medical journal, and taking notes in a notebook. A plate of onion rings is virtually untouched, and his milkshake is melting.

Interrupt if you dare.

Not interrupting. Just stealing onion rings. "You shouldn't order stuff if you aren't going to eat it." she grins and sets to work eating his onion rings.

"Bar presented them, I didn't even ask. She knows what I like." He shrugs. He's not hungry. One of the effects of the Vicodin, he doesn't eat much. He wonders how long it'll take her to figure out he's back on the pills.

She is hungry and she is fine with eating his food. "You have been eating though, right?" suddenly she's worried.

He shrugs. He closes his notebook, using it to mark his page in the journal he's reading.

"Did somebody appoint you lunchroom monitor?" There's more defiance in his words than all out snark.

"Yes, I need a badge. Just because you aren't hungry doesn't mean you shouldn't eat. " she watches him. "So how long have you been back on the Vicodin?"

"I'm..." The protest dies on his tongue. There's really nothing to be gained from lying to her. "There was a fight outside the other night. A friend of mine was hurt. A healer worked on him, bu tthere was physical injury he couldn't fix. I got down on my knees to help him, and I slept on the floor while he was in my bed. Then helped a kid who was...well, it's a long story but I had to get down on my knees again."

He shifts his eyes. He knows that's not it. Contributing factors, yes. But the real reason is Rhalen. Rhalen left and took the weave with him.

"Okay. That's fine I get that" and with that she drops the subject. "That's good that you are helping out here." she grins. She not wanting to mess with it righ now, he's being civi and if he needs the Vicodin he needs it.

"Yeah." He doesn't tell her that helping Jasin and Behrooz kept him from swallowing every pill in his bottle all at once just to make the pain stop. They gave him a reason to stay functional.

"What have you been up to? Besides being named lunch monitor."

"Not much. The lunch monitor thing is the best I got right now." she grins. "And bothering you, of course."

"Too bad the pay is crap, but you are a seasoned pro." House picks up an onion ring, looks at it, and setsit back down.

"I'd do it for free anyway."

She picks up the onion ring and is very close to making the onion ring talk but she just grins. "You know you shouldn't pick it up if you aren't gonna eat it. That's rude." she eats the onion ring.

"I didn't like the way that one was looking at me."

"Darn, you shoulda told me. I was gonna make it talk. If it was already looking at you funny, that would have been fun to watch. Oh well. " she smiles and pick up another onion ring and this one does talk in a high squeaky voice. " Please eat us, Doctor House. We are delicious and Allison likes us." she puts it back down on the plate.

House glares at her, but shifts his eyes to the 'talking' onion ring. "Oh my god. Dr Cameron. Did you hear that? My onion rings are talking!"

"They are? I didn't hear anything." she smiles at him. "I think you are hallucinating."

"Yeah? Must be the Vicodin." He grabs the ofending onion ring and takes a bite of it.

She laughs. "Well, it got you to eat the onion ring, at least."

"You know, this is fun." she smiles

He licks the grease off his fingers. "Yeah. it is."

Her eyes go wide. "Did you just agree with me? Excuse me, I need to go faint now." she grins at him. "We should do this more. I mean, when you feel up to it."

"Don't press it, Allison." He gives her a sterm look. "I'm high on pain killers. I'm hearing onion rings begme to eat them. I'm clearly delusional and not to be trusted."

"Oh well. I don't think you're delusional. The onion ring was just communicating on a higher level than I could understand." She is bordering on goofy this evening but things are going so well and no one has gotten angry and she is so close to saying something stupid about her feeling but she has stopped everytime.

He laughs slightly and shakes his head. "That must be it. Thankfully they've stopped." He eyes the plate as if he expects one to jump out at him.

She just watches him. "You know if we were always like this, I could easily justify why I feel the way I do about you?"

He shifts his eyes completely away, rubs his chin, pushes his fingers against his eyes.

""I don't even know what to say to that, Allison. You're wasting your time on me. I don't think I'm even capable of giving you what you want. What you need."

She shrugs. "It's my time to waste. Is me liking you really hurting anything?" she sighs "Well, this was fun but now we're back where we started so maybe I should go.Wouldn't make any difference to you, anyway. I mean I'm wasting my time, so obviiously you don'tlike having me around." she's hurt now.

"And that just proves my point. You don't deserve my crap. And that's all I'll give you. It's not...You're a really great girl, Allison, and you're a brilliant doctor. And, I don't want you to leave. But I'm only going to hurt you more if you stay."

Michelle notices the good doctor and realizes that she never thanked him for his help.

"Hey."

House looks over at her. "Hey yourself."

"Everything happened so fast that I never got a chance to thank you for your help."

"I should be thanking you. It felt good to help that kid. How is he, by the way?"

"He's better, I don't want to think what would have have happened if we hadn't found him."

"I'd say he would have suffered a long time before he gave up the fight."

She glances down at the implications of that comment. "No matter how many times I see or hear about something like that...I still wonder how someone could treat another person that way."

"It happens a lot more than most people realise." house looks at his half melted milkshake and pushes it away. "He was lucky. As long as he drinks plenty of fluids and gets back to a normal eating schedule, he'll be fine. His nose may be messed up, but I don't think it'll be noticeable once it heals."

"Maybe he'll be able to find a healer," she pauses for a moment. "I guess now is the time you ask me who he is and why we were looking for him?"

"I've been thinking about it. I know it's probably none of my business. But whoever did that to him knew what she was doing. ANd that guy with you recognised the wonman he described as someone who tried to assassinate him. And, Behrooz told me that man was the Persident. So yeah. i'm not gonna deny I'm curious."

Michelle sighs a little, "You remember how my friend Jack was poisoned a few weeks ago? Well, the Behrooz's mom did it and we knew she had accomplices but she wouldn't talk unless we found Behrooz. I think that the woman who was holding him was holding him as insurance but her plan backfired."

"So she was the accomplice? The woman who hurt Behrooz?"

Wasn't there some possibility the accomplice wa Rhalen? House hasn't believed that ws possible, and now it seemed (to him) maybe Rhalen was off the hook for that. Not that it mattered, after the fight with Jasin a few nights ago.

Michelle nods, "Since she also tried to kill the President and associated with people like Nina Myers, it's not too much of a stretch to imagine her helping Dina. Especially because someone needed to be unBound for part of the plan, at least that's what we figured out."

Hose nods. Sounds like a spy novel. Internation intrigue. And an innocent kid caught in the middle.

"At least the boy is safe. He is safe, isn't he?"

"He should be," she gives him a tiny smile, "After all, the President of the United States was sitting with him."

"That is one big guy. I'd hate to find myself on his bad side."

"I don't think Palmer's ever hurt anyone. It's the smaller guys you need to watch out for."

"It usually is that way." House nods.

"I think I'm gonna call it a night. It's good to see you again."

"You too, hopefully next time we'll be able to talk about something other than the investigation."

"Yeah. Take care, Michelle. And good night." He gets up, cane in hand, and heads for the steps.

"Have a good night," she says as he leaves.
