David enters the bar, looking only a little bleary.
Almost as though he hasn't slept in about a week.
Strange, that.

"How are you?"
no subject
"Oof!"
And he manages a smile for her.
"I've been better. But thank you all the same for asking. I'm sorry I've not been around the house much."
no subject
"That's okay. I forgive you."
She then tilts her head, her smile fading some.
"David? You look tired. Are you okay?"
no subject
"I'm fine, love, really."
He looks up at her.
"It's... nothing."
no subject
She glares at him, not moving from her spot.
"Tell me."
no subject
He can't look at her.
no subject
"Why... why did you do that?"

"...is Nick okay?"

"As best he can be expected to be when he'd been tortured and maimed and yelled at by the ghost of his dead father, I suppose."
no subject
"Eeeeps."
no subject
"That was about the extent to which my own brain could process it at first, too."

He gives a world-weary sigh instead.
[OOC: However, the mun melts in the general direction of Jack's smile. Also, she's packing, so expect her to be sporadic at best, sweetling?]

Jack looks surprised and closes his book. "What's wrong?"
no subject
"Guilt eating me inside out, worry for a friend. Nothing much, really," he replies.
He doesn't mention that he really hasn't slept in a week.

Jack inhales and looks very serious. He moves to David's table. "Guilt over what?"
no subject
"Murder. I - a friend was in trouble, and there was a... and... he deserved it. A vampire, but not like me. A vampire not like my friend, but from the same world and I burned him inside out, knowing that it's the most painful way for one of us to die, no matter what the world. Knowingly and unnerringly and we tortured them and it's eating me alive because I swore that I wouldn't, not again..."

"When someone we love is in danger, we act in ways we would despise otherwise, David."
no subject
He sighs.
But he's calming from Jack's touch.

He looks around.
"I haven't ordered yet."

"I've not said a thing to Loki, except that he's seen me crying, and I couldn't explain it and I know he knows that something's the matter..."
