"Oh, honey, I am so sorry. Ya gonna be okay? Need something stronger than the beer?" This has bascially halted any of Columbia's ideas to hit on her. It wouldn't be right. Even if she is gorgeous.

"Thanks. And yeah, that'd be nice." Normally, she'd be all for Columbia hitting on her, but tonight is different.

"What do ya like? Look I'll just go grab something from the bar and we'll share, okay?" Columbia doesn't plan to drink much, but she is trying to be supportive. She never had anyone when stuff like this happened to her. She goes to the bar and gets a bottle of (insert type of booze here) and two glasses. She bring it back to the table. and hands a glass and the bottle to Maureen

"Anything. Something strong." Maureen tries to smile, but it doesn't exactly work. "I should have seen this coming, really." She grabs the bottle and the offered glass. "Thank you."

"What happened, if you don't mind me askin?" Columbia watches Maureen very closely she doesn't want to make her cry. "Don't mention it. We've all been there, sweetie."

"We've been on-again, off-again for ages, and, well, I've never exactly been the best girlfriend. I just can't help it, though! I love being noticed, and I can't really be monogamous. This time when she kicked me out, though, she said she's not taking me back. And it sounded serious." Maureen sighs again. "I do love her. But I don't think she believes that."

"She shouldn't expect you to be perfect, Maureen. What's wrong with being noticed? You're a good looking girl. I don't put much value in monogamy myself. Is that what she wanted though? Just give it time."

"Thank you. Yeah, she wants me to be hers and hers alone." Maureen mutters something that sounds like "possessive bitch" under her breath. "Well, maybe she'll come around. But if not... Who knows? I need to find a new place, though."

Columbia shushes her. "you'll only make yourself feel worse, talking about her like that. Besides, you should feel good that someone want just you. That's pretty damned nice. Where are ya from, got any friends you can crash with? "

(OOC: Sorry it's been a few days - I was away and couldn't get online.)

"I guess it is nice," Maureen admits grudgingly. "I'm from New York City, but my friends here are both Bound, and I can't really ask my ex if I could crash. Maybe I'll get a room here again. I don't know." She looks up at Columbia. "Where are you from?"

"I'm from New York, orginally upstate. I am bound too, not living anymore"

"Oh." Maureen is initially a little taken aback, but not for long; after all, one of her best friends is dead, too, and he's here. "Do you have friends here?" She looks around for a tissue, but doesn't find one.

"I've met lots of people here, and one person is here from my past. And I have a room and a pet squirrel..." her face when she says pet squirrel suggests a hilarious reason that is better not asked about. She reaches acorss and wipes a tear from Maureen's face. It's meant as a friendly gesture. "Do you need a tissue or something?" she pulls a hankerchief out of her corset and hands it to Maureen. "Here."

Maureen sees the look, but she's still intrigued. "A pet squirrel?" She takes the hankerchief and wipes her eyes. "Thank you."

"Yeah, a flying squirrel. A friend gave him to me cause he thought I needed company." Columbia grins at Maureen. "Don't worry about it. It's not like I've haven't cried a few of my own in the past."

"Oh. That's... nice," Maureen says cautiously, unsure of whether it is or not. "Company's good when you're not feeling great." She smiles at Columbia.

Columbia grins back. "It's an experience, the squirrel, I mean. He's actually pretty nice to have around."

"What's his name? I love animals."

"Oakley and he's a sweetheart. You could come up and meet him sometime. I've been thinking of bringing him down but I'm not sure the amount of people would thrill him."

"I'd love to meet him! When would be good?" Excited now, she stops looking depressed for the first time tonight.

"Well, Oakley would love visitors. Maybe we could get together sometime. You think you can handle quality time with a squirrel and his human?" Columbia smiles. "I've been thinking about trying him outside, but I was scared he'd take off think you'd like to tag along if I did it?"

"I'd love to. And I think I can handle that." Maureen is smiling again. "I've never been outside here."

"Neither has Oakley." Columbia is very pleased to see Maureen smiling. "Well, great."

"Great," Maureen repeats. "So when will I see you two?" She yawns. This whole day has been exhausting.

"In a couple days, maybe? "
Columbia notices the yawn. "You should rest you've had a hell of a day. Well get together in a few days, okay?"

"Okay," Maureen says gratefully. "I'll see you in a few days. Night. And thanks."

"Gnight, Maureen. Get to feelin better, okay?"

"Okay, I'll try. See you soon." And she heads upstairs.
