*Alanna enters, her manner oddly hesitant. She heads straight for the bar and sits down, looking alternately annoyed and unsure of herself. Once seated, she removes her long burnoose. Underneath she is wearing a soft lilac wool dress. Her face coloring, she orders a coffee and looks around. She spies Thom and Sario sitting a few feet away. Biting her lip, she waves and turns back to her coffee.*

*mouths* I am going to dunk you in the lake and hang you out to dry.

Whatever you like, Lady.

*mutters* Not NOW, Thom. Feel free to taunt me at length later. You know, once I get used to the skirts again and can properly trounce you. *grins somewhat madly*
By the way... make sure you show Sario your sketch. *smiles serenely*

Actually, I think I would love one. Perhaps some wine? My name is Alanna of Trebond. And your name, sir?

Tristan. That's a fine name. I think I will try the white this evening, although in my land you rarely get a choice in wine color. *looks around* One of the great mysteries of Milliway's, I presume. Where are you from Tristan?

*laughs* I am from Tortall, Tristan. Although I'm not sure how its location would relate to your world, it lies on the coast between Scanra, Tusaine and Tyra. Trebond is in the North, not terribly far from the capital city of Corus. Truthfully, I've spent more time in Corus than in my family's lands. I'm a Knight of the Realm and thus have trained at the King's castle since my tenth year.
*takes a taste of her wine and smiles* That is remarkably tasty. Yes, our wine is a deep red only. The ale varies a bit in color and texture, but the wine is constant.

The weaponry is tricky, yes. As I was masquerading as a boy during my training, I had to work twice as hard as the others just to keep up. I trained with my manservant's sword -- a hefty broadsword, at that -- until the practice blades were easy to wield. *smirks* Now I'm the best swords-person in all of Tortall. I'm called the Lioness.
*sighs* At the moment, you might say I am between quests. My King was almost assassinated on his coronation day. *smiles wryly* He has granted me time away from court in return for saving his life and ridding Tortall of Duke Roger the usurper. *shakes herself* I'm sorry to ramble on so, Tristan. Is there a reason you evaded my question about your own land?
no subject
Did I? I'm terribly sorry, it was an entirely unconcious effort. But you saved your King from a usurper? That must have taken quite a bit of work, I'd hate to have to face down a Duke, royalty or not. I'm sure the King was pleased to have been saved by such a lovely knight as you, though. Lessens the shock of a near-death.

*wiping her eyes* Oh, but you do have a sly tongue and quick wit. I confess I am intrigued. *she meets his level gaze and attempts to reign in her amusement* Fear not, Tristan. I will not ask you again. I respect your silence. It is not always wise to divulge information in unfamiliar surroundings and I, more than the average person, can understand that. *smiles* But surely you realize that there are beings here who are able to read your every thought? I suspect that all shall reveal itself presently. *sips her wine*
It took a great deal of effort to get rid of Roger. Especially since I had to kill him twice. I do so hate to see my hard work undone. *sighing, she waves the hand not holding the wine glass. It glows momentarily with a with violet light that quickly extinguishes itself. Her eyes are glued to his face, carefully gauging his reaction*
