Chur is sitting at a table, an empty plate and an empty mug pushed to the side and a black rectangle about the size of a shoebox in front of her. Hovering above the shoebox is a projection of a solar system - not Earth's, as there are only six planets. A green and white and blue planet is the second from the sun, and it's this planet that Chur is focusing on, her ears drooping a little in sadness.

The Jedi still is moving a bit stiffly... and his right hand is still missing. He pauses to observe the feline. "your home planet?"

Chur looks up with a start, and her ears go back briefly before she brings them up in politeness. "Yes, ser, that's Anuurn," she says, indicating the second planet with an extended claw.

"Anuurn... I dont think I ever heard of it. what it is like?" He is curious, and perhaps, missing his own world and life.

Chur purses her lips into a smile that doesn't show teeth. "Everything's just right - the feel of the homestar in your fur, the feel of the homeworld under your feet, the taste of the streams, the way uruus run through the grass..."

She shakes her head. "That... doesn't help much, I'm sure. I've been told it's like a less-developed Earth."

"I don't know Earth... I am from another galaxy altogether..." he shakes head a bit. "I am Mace Windu."

Chur dips her ears briefly. "Pleased to meet you, Mace Windu. I am Chur," the hani replies. "Would you mind sitting down, so I don't have to look up at you so far?" She sneezes a self-deprecating laugh.

"I'm sorry. of course." He sits, and almost winces. Being killed takes a while to heal.

Chur dips an ear. "Are you all right?" she asks, worriedly, retracting the claws she'd been using to type into the projector in case she needs to get up and get something.

"I am getting better. not as fast as I would prefer."

Chur nods. "Understandable. Healing always takes a while," she agrees. "Well, if you don't know of Earth, then I'm not sure what to say about Anuurn, other than that it's the homeworld." Not that it's anyone else's homeworld but the hani, but no one ever accused Chur of not being hani-centric.

"well, you have holo projectors... so, it is a rather advanced world"

Chur twitches an ear back. "We didn't invent them, we just modified them for hani hands," she murmurs. "Most of our technology goes into our spaceships and the stations and the colony - downworlders are content to live the way we did three centuries ago, mostly."

"I see. well, it is quite normal in my galaxy: use technology in limited scopes, mostly for interaction with other races."

Chur flicks her ears. "Many of the other humans here have much more advanced technology on their worlds, but not spaceflight. I suppose that's the natural order of things, though."

"that is unusual. spaceflight is an early development from where I came. it happened earlier than most other technologies."

Chur sneezes a soft laugh. "Ser, we had spaceflight before we had gunpowder."

"what is this... 'gunpowder'?" He is puzzled, now...

Chur taps at the table with a claw, thinking. "It's a smelly, powdery substance that burns very quickly, and it's used to make explosive weapons," she explains after a moment. "The other species I know developed it on the way to developing higher explosives and then to spaceflight."

"crude chemical reactions... we abandoned it long ago. even the old nuclear fission weapons are not used in centuries." He nods...

Chur sneezes another laugh. "We haven't abandoned 'crude chemical reactions' yet. But I think we skipped over fission and went right to fusion - at least, I don't remember hearing of anything powered by nuclear fission, outside of a hani lab."

A shrug. "We're trying to catch up, scientifically, after all."

"our spacecraft uses ion engines, antimatter plants and cold fusion for secondary systems."

Chur twitches her ears. "I don't know so much about the engines. Captain says 'make it go here', the pilot makes it go there, I just watch."

"I dont know much of the theory either. I dont think anyone knows everything. just enough to make it work."

Chur nods. "Well, hopefully the ones who repair it know it better. I know some of how the vanes work, because I've watched 'em work, but not the engines."

"there is not really much you can repair, if you do not have the proper facilities..." He nods again.

Chur shrugs. "If you're little you can climb up a column and rewire things," she suggests. "Or maybe it's only hani who are little enough to make it up a vane column."

"we use astromech droids for that, most often."

"Hnn. Are those the little roundish ones that only beep?" she asks. "Because I think I met one of those here, but I don't think it would climb a ladder so well."

"yes. the one you might have seen must be Artoo... usually, there is one or more astromech droids on each level of the ship, and tube lifts move them up and down. in smaller ships, the droid is inserted in a slot, and works as navigation system as well."

Chur frowns. "Your equipment must be either much smaller or much larger than ours," she decides. "Or entirely different; I know the knnn have entirely different equipment, and they're not only from our galaxy, they're near enough to reach in a month or so."

"sizes vary widely. my Delta-7x Aethersprite Interceptor is a mere 34 feet long. an Acclamator-class assault ship is over 70 times larger."

"I don't mean the size of the ship," she explains, "but what's inside it. A hunter-ship probably masses as much as a cargo ship, but the hunter ship is all engine and vanes, and the cargo ship is all hold. Well, mostly."

"ah, I see... yes, the starships I know are more complex... with some avantages and disadvantages."
