There isn't an Ace in a bar.
There, is, however, an Ace by the lake. She's found a nice sun-warmed rock to sit on, and is staring out over the lake.
...
Maybe someone should convince her to come in for dinner.
(Summary: Claire comes with a picnic dinner, in the hopes that Ace won't take off again. Eventually introductions are made, Seth is his usually uber-adorable self, and they trade 'my life up 'til now' stories. Evidently Ace has been pretty sparing with the details. Then they discuss Tim - Claire tries to paint him in a better light than Ace sees him, but Ace isterrified skeptical.
Raven comes out to talk to Ace. Ace apologizes for her snappishness the day before, and they introduce themselves. Somehow the conversation wanders through dealing with Fenric, how Raven reminds her of the Doctor somewhat, how she's really Ace, even if everyone wants the old one back, and pyroism. It's a wide-ranging conversation. And Raven is really neat.)

"Didn't really think to ask." More like thinking to get away, really. Far, far away. As fast as possible.

"He scares the living daylights out of me, and I don't know why."

"He didn't even have to say anything. He was just there, and I was sure he was going to kill me. Still don't trust him, and I haven't seen him since. He scares me. Badly." Claire just isn't getting it.

"Oh," she says and shifts Seth again. She should've brought his carrier.
"For what it's worth, and I understand that's probably very little, I don't think he'd try to kill you. And even if he did, in the bar death isn't allowed. The action, not the woman. She's a regular."

"S'not that, it's just... I can't breathe. It hurts, so very much, and he's... he's terrifying." And she has no idea why. He didn't do anything, after all, besides beg her to stay.
no subject
"I'm sorry," she says quietly. "I hate to see you hurting."
Seth reaches a hand out sleepily to bop Ace's shoulder. Me too, Ace-love. Me too.

"It's... it's alright. I'll just... keep away. Far away." She offers a hand to Seth, for him to hold on to.

Seth watches her as he takes hold of her hand. He seems-- and really it must be Ace's over-wrought imagination-- to squeeze her hand a little harder as he smiles.

"No. And... m'sorry 'bout bolting, the other night. It was just... a lot." She spares a curious glance at Seth, but decides that she really must be imagining things. Stress and exhaustion, that's it.

Seth, his eyes still on Ace's, tilts his head to the side. He doesn't babble, and that could just be because he's tired. Instead he just watches her, his little brow furrowed as if he's concentrating on something.

"Well, I stay in room 419. If you need anything before I see you again, please come get me. I'm usually up late and early both, so you wouldn't be bothering me."
no subject
"419, got it. I'm... um. You know, I didn't check. I just know it's three doors down the fourth hallway on the left." She watches Claire put away all the leftover bits, wondering idly if she should help, but not wanting to get in the way of the efficient movement.

She's done straightening up before Ace could've helped anyway.
"I'm going to get this little Peanut here to bed. It's getting close to his bed time and he's quieted down which means he wants to go to sleep but won't unless I make him."
She kisses Seth's forehead. "Tell her good-bye, Peanut."
Seth smiles at her and squeezes her hand again before letting god and curling his fist up against his mouth.

(ooc: *snugs* I love Claire, I did tell you this, right?)
