Sarah at the window

Sarah was back, and judging by the fact that her pants were made of leather and held on by suction (apparently) and the fact that her top was made of little more than a couple of glittery scarves held together with ribbon and hope, and also the fact that her hair was held up with an impressive array of clips and barrettes -a wonder they didn't add another five pounds alone- it could be surmised that she'd been planning on going somewhere else and had ended up here.

But the observation window as well as the plate of warm chocolate chip cookies, glass of ice cold milk and the copy of The Language of Birds that she'd gotten from Bar, were enough to make up for any crimp in her plans.

Company couldn't hurt either.

"greetings, rainmaker."

Sarah blinked up, fingers marking her place in the book, she smiled then, inclining her head slightly, "Hello again."

"it is a pleasure to see you again." He does not seem to find anything unusual about her manner of dressing.

Another smile, closing the book and nodding to the other chair, "Same to you, going somewhere or can I offer you a seat?"

"I do not have really many places to go. so, yes, you may offer me a seat." Yes, he is able to smile.

She smiled again as well, sliding the book over out of the way and nudging the chair away from the table with a foot, "It's yours if you want it."

He moves, still a bit stiff, and sits down. "thank you."

"You're welcome." A pause, "Cookie?" She added, sliding the plate closer. She'd had three already and there was still a heap of them to go.

"Thank you." And he offers a nod to the bar, when a cup of his favorite tea materializes. "strange, but highly useful."

She nodded again, nibbling at the edge of another cookie, "So I've noticed." She drummed her fingers against the cover of the book, "Wasn't sure this actually existed. Guess it does."

"this place seems able to challenge many of the ideas people have about existance."

He watches her. "that is normal, day-to-day clothing in your world?"

"Is what?" She blinked down at herself then, then laughed, shaking her head, "Oh, no. Nightwear, sort of." She shrugged, "Was headed out dancing, wound up here when I got to the bottom of the stairs."

"so, the Bar does indeed pick up people at much varied moments. I am glad it picked me up before I hit the ground."

Ugh, Jedi humor.

A slight smile, "Well, we wouldn't be having this conversation if it hadn't." A shrug then, "Not that I haven't talked to faceless puddles of gore before, but it's not really something I want to do often, you know?"

"I would most likely be a pile of ashes, but... it would be not much of a practical difference." He sips tea.

"I could compliment your manner of dressing, but my knowledge of earth's fashion styles is sadly lacking." That might have been a teasing joke.

She smiled slightly, "And if you did, I might just have to move you out of the 'intelligent conversation' category and into the 'dirty old man' category." Not that she knew whether or not he was that much older than she was, but he seemed more world-worn.

"first, I am not that old." He chuckles. "Second, the most I could say... well, if your clothing is aimed at leaving little to the imagination..."

She laughed aloud, dusting the crumbs from her fifth... maybe sixth cookie from her fingers, "Well, that is the general idea." She shrugged, "And to help regulate body temperature, dancing in a crowd gets hot, more skin that's exposed to air the easier it is to cool down, sort of like a jackrabbit's ears."

So maybe she was making it up, maybe she wasn't, but it didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

"and it is more eye-catching than having jackrabbit ears?" He smiles, shakes head. "the basics of fashion seem to be the same all over..."

The laugh was more of a giggle at that, shaking her head, "Where I'm from jackrabbit ears would be more eyecatching than this would be." She shrugged, "But not necessarily in a good way I suppose."

A slight smile, "Not that this is either, everything's got it's drawbacks, and yes. Fashion basics are ... well, basically the same everywhere. That's why they're basics."

"get the right kind of attention. well, I compliment you on your choices. they fit the basics well."

Another smile as she picked up another cookie, debated a moment, and set it down again, sipping at her still icy milk instead, "In that case, thank you."

He sips tea. "you are welcome, Rainmaker." A nod, back to his polite, neutral expression. One could swear he would never tease and flirt like he just did.

She settled back in her seat more comfortably, picking up the cookie again to dip it in her milk, "Please, call me Sarah."
