Ace is lying outside, enjoying the last of the sunlight. It seems her experiment the other day begged further study.
Why is Ace sleeping in the sun?
Because her mun is knackered and can't summon the mental energy to figure out what the heck's going on in the bar
Because it's nice. After a week of stress, this is just perfect.

"Hello, Ace. I hope I find you well?"
no subject
"Bzyuh?" No, Ace isn't one of those lucky people who can go from asleep to alert in .00001 seconds. She's one of those people who really doesn't see the rush if no one's shooting at her.

Raven had no idea Ace knew the language of Archon 13.
no subject
"Huh?" She repeats. Yes, she thinks this is what she said the first time. Poor Ace.
no subject
A pause.
"I'm sorry, I thought you spoke Archonese."
no subject
"Are you very, very sure you've never travelled around to different times and planets in a timeship that persisted in looking like a blue policebox? Ever? 'Cause if not, I'd swear you were the Doctor's long-lost twin or sommat."
no subject
"The space-time continuum is not linear for me, it's true. But I've never travelled in a box. And I don't think I had a mother."
He grins.
"Given your affection for the man, I"ll take that as a compliment."
no subject
no subject
"You'll see him again, I think. Sometime."
no subject
"Yeah. Hope so. 'Course, when I do, I'm going to chew him out royally first. He's been gone too long for me not to."
no subject
Raven nods. He would like to see it.
no subject
"Oh, he always deserves it. Some days more than others. That's why he needs companions - we're not afraid of him, so we can ream him if needed. And watch his back. The man has absolutely no sense of impending doom."
no subject
Oh, Raven's expression is so very innocent. Oh, the irony.

no subject
"From your stories, you are a fair one to talk, Ace."
He pauses, reflectively.
"And I am not in a position to throw such stones."
He grins, a tad ruefully.
no subject
"A fair hit. Damn, and here I thought I was being all mysterious." She grins sunnily up at him.
no subject
He returns her smile.
"It is difficult to hide, from Raven."
"Though not impossible."
no subject
"You do know that now I'll have to endeavor to hide sommat from you. Just to see if I can."
no subject
"I look forward to it. I like knowing there are things left to learn."
no subject
"How will you know if I'm hiding sommat, unti you find it? But if you don't find it, you'll never know."
no subject
Consistency, of a sort, was never his strong point.
"I trust in your ingenuity."
no subject
no subject
"When you've hidden something from me for a week, let me know."
"That is a long time, for such things."
no subject
"So it can be anything?" She asks, grinning. She's already trying to think up possibilities.

He loves games, especially ones he can lose.
no subject
"You're going down, you know. Just warning you so it won't be a shock."
no subject
"As I said, I have the utmost confidence in your ingenuity."

"Will I enjoy speaking with her, do you think?"
no subject
"I'd love to see if you can get her to think you're the Doctor. That'd be an interesting reaction." Ace feels no need to protect any Time Lord except the one.
no subject
"I shall put it on my list, then."
"Are there any things I should be certain to do, in front of her?"
no subject
"Little things. Mention missing K-9. Say something about how glad you are that you have better hair this time... or a better nose, or whatever. He's always so sure he's better looking in his current regeneration. Mmm... hee. Offer her a jellybaby."
no subject
"What is a jellybaby?"
no subject
"Oh, you poor poor god-thing." She tsks as she begins digging about in her pockets. Two stones come out, neither terribly interesting except one's got a pretty red vein running through it and one's sparkly. A train stub for 1943. A few spare wires she had stuffed in there at one point. Her UNIT ID card. Another UNIT ID card, this one with a different, older picture. A small purple crab that hurridly gets stuffed back in her pocket.
Finally, a white crinkly paper bag. She offers it to Raven.
"Jellybabies. S'a candy."
no subject
She is truly a kindred spirit.
He takes the jellybabies, and tries one.
His face is almost as blissful as when he speaks of flying.
"Can I have more?"
no subject
That, or it confuses the hell out of the bad guy, having your arch-enemy wander over and offer a bag of sweets.
no subject
His voice is almost reverent, and he pockets the candy.
"Are there other exciting things happening in your life, of late?"
no subject
no subject
He grins.
"In the efforts of fostering such, I think I shall leave you, now. Trouble often follows Raven."
He pauses. "Or perhaps it is the reverse."
no subject
"Catch ya later, Raven."
