Something's in the air...

Naraht comes in from the garden (his stair-climbing vehicle still in the planning stage, the upper floors are still inaccessable to him) and orders some granite for lunch. He wonders at the fact that it takes Bar about five minutes to produce it, but figures that perhaps she has off-days as much as any other sentient being.

But, all the same, the mood affects him. He retires to a table with a good view of the cosmological holocast outside and nibbles at the stone instead of devouring it with his usual healthy appetite.

Don't ask me how he's manageing to eat it into the shape of a tesseract, but feel free to come bug him.

Ray, who has not been here very long today but has picked up on at least something of the atmosphere, heads for a familiar... er... form. "Naraht. Hey," he greets. "Think I might've worked out the suspension system for your Dendromys device."

Naraht perks up. "That's wonderful, Ray. I wasn't sure how difficult it would be to come up with one strong enough to bear my weight and still work with the swiveling wheelframe design. Perhaps I should start looking into finding the proper materials. Hmmmm...does this establishment boast a 'workshop' of any kind?"

"To be honest, I wouldn't have come up with anything at all if I hadn't just spent the past several weeks working with some people on redoing my own vehicle's suspension system. It's almost exactly the same rig that we use to hold up Ecto-1, but miniaturized and distributed over more shock absorbers so as to fit in with the multiple wheels. And no, no workshop that I know of, but it shouldn't be too hard to put up a tent or something in the back and seal that down against environmental influences. Normally I do my work in my room upstairs, but you can't get there yet, so..."

"Hmmmm...perhaps we should ask Bar or one of the staff about available facilities."

He "glances" around the room. "Tell me, Ray. Does Bar seem to be somewhat melancholy today?"

"Worth a shot. Maybe we can borrow the use of one of the holding cells."

"And now that you mention it... yeah. Yeah, it does. I've been in my time, so I don't know what's going on, unfortunately."

"And I've been out in the garden since we last spoke. I'm afraid I'm not exactly plugged into the rumor mill here."

Another few bites and the chunk of granite no longer looks like a tesseract. It actually looks like a Klien bottle (God only knows how). "Perhaps we should make some discrete inquiries. It would be difficult for those poor souls currently Bound if the Bar slipped into a major depressive state. She is, after all, their main provider."

"I'll have to ask around. We've already got plenty of doom and gloom here- we don't need it to get worse. The last time it felt like this, Tim Hunter had died."

"We had better start asking then."

Naraht catches sight of someone familiar sitting down at a table a short ways away. "Ah, Dr. Venkman has arrived. Shall we see if he knows anything we don't?"
